The Autonomous Vehicle Engineer will work, as part of our cross-functional and
world-class engineering team, to design drive-by-wire and sensor suite systems, and retrofit such systems to any vehicle, turning them into high-tech self-driving ones!
Role responsibilities
- Design & develop drive-by-wire systems - Replace traditional mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic control systems with electronic controls systems for steering, braking, throttle and gear shifting. Ensure the developed system is fail safe & includes redundancy.
- Develop a fully functional sensor suite layout, including LiDAR, cameras, ultrasonic sensors, RTK/IMU & more – work with a multi-disciplinary team, including software engineers, mechanical engineers, research scientists & systems engineers to ensure sensor suite meets requirements of all stakeholders.
- Design Wire Harnesses – produce top quality harness designs optimized for routing, fabrication & maintenance.
- Evaluate & select suppliers and vendors – assess suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost and support while managing timelines and ensuring deliverables meet specifications.
- Install & test developed system – oversee the physical mounting of sensors, controllers and other hardware components subsequently performing calibration, testing and validation to ensure systems are operational.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related fields
- 3+ years experience in PCB design, Electrical design & Harness design
- Strong knowledge of drive-by-wire systems, sensor suites and compute systems
- Experience with CANbus and other vehicle network protocols
- Flexible problem-solver, ability to adapt to evolving requirements & ambigous situations.
- Familiarity with process documentation.
