We are looking for a Test & Commissioning Assistant Manager to function as a key interface between customer logistics and the formal commissioning of project design in installation and test activities. You will provide on-going metrics in support of on-going project activities regarding issues and observations on site as well as identifying resource needs to meet the project demand.
Additionally, you will sign installation and test assignments to test engineering staff as needed to meet project milestones; assess field reliability of troubleshooting, maintenance procedures in CBTC equipment such as vehicle and wayside systems, and other external tasks related to the overall CBTC system and COMMS equipment such as low voltage systems like CCTV, PAS, PIDS, Scada,Network etc.
Finally, the successful candidate will coordinate with the Project Manager on project items identified on site and coordinate with URS/ICS Domain Deployment Leader on resource demands and staff allocation, with URS/ICS T&C Manager to align on activity progress and staff coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
· Leading Testing and Commissioning (T&C) Engineers of Hitachi Rail, subcontractors and T&C Engineers of product suppliers when required by the project.
· In charge of supporting project execution for T&C, when they require Engineering support in field activities.
· Coordination and liaising with the technical project management, the relevant system engineers and other parties involved in testing of project.
· Creation of a testing schedule weekly.
· Draft Test & Commissioning Plans SAT, ITC, Migration Test Plan.
· Liaison with customer during Testing & Commissioning, Migration, Revenue Phase.
· Responsible for the installation and execution of field tests of different communication subsystems with the support of installation, T&C engineers and product supplier engineers when the project requires it.
· Responsible for managing and coordinating installation support, T&C activities throughout the execution phase
· Liaise with team and prepare testing schedule to ensure timely execution as per client requirements, manage sub-contractor if needed. Ensure no rework happens during testing activities to avoid any kind of cost overrun on project.
· Support Lead interface manager of project and ensure inputs for site requirements from operator are given on time.
· Work for the project milestones, complete Site acceptance tests like SAT, ITC on time and no customer issue.
· Development of a testing concept according to contract requirements in relation to the given system properties and the budget.
· Undertakes problem solving and troubleshooting as required by commissioning activities
· Plan scheduling and job allocation for activities (to coordinate with Planner)
· Pro-actively manage the internal interfaces with Project Engineering, Installation and Quality and the external interfaces with Partners, third parties and Customer.
· Deploy T&C process on the field and make sure it is applied by the T&C team within the project
· Report to T&C Manager (Urban Rail Signalling, Communications) weekly basis on project progress and team activities.
· Participation in technical discussion and report preparation.
- Promotes customer relations / company credibility. Functions as the key customer interface for the project as needed
- Field Team Point of Contact with strong technological background for the execution of Integration and Test programs and resources to other engineers and technicians.
- Identify problems and significantly improve/change/adapt existing methods, tools and techniques relative to the concerned perimeter.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of Automatic Train Control systems concepts and principles as well as current existing signaling standards, Low Voltage Systems, Comms systems
- Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments
- Excellent organizational and communications skills, both verbal and written, and good interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated fluency and understanding/comprehension in oral and written English
- Field experience in a rail transit installation, test or support environment or similar technology application is of significance
- Strong process orientation and discipline to ensure compliance with both Corporate and Customer procedures
- Critical thinking, able to identify and implement better efficiencies and process improvements
- Effective communication skills to interact professionally with all levels inside and outside the organization.
- Flexibility to take on additional projects and adapt to changes in priorities
- Extensive experience in managing multiple activities simultaneously including integration operations at the customer’s site with a high level of autonomy
- Working knowledge of safety standards and practices required at project site
- Experience in Wireshark and Excel strongly recommended
- Experience with DOORS or other requirement handling programs
- Governance of PowerBI is a plus
