Job Description
The Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions at the National University of Singapore invites applications for a a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The appointment is for an initial period of one year with the possibility of renewal. The mission of CNCS is to produce policy-relevant science on nature-based climate solutions to address knowledge gaps, build capacity and deliver pragmatic solutions and innovations to inform climate policies, strategies and actions in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
- will support research on synergising biodiversity conservation interventions with impacts on climate change mitigation.
- will include developing academic publications
- exploring potential field-based programs to expand the research theme
- liaising with potential global collaborators
Qualifications
A PhD from a reputable university (or conferred by the time the appointment commences) in environmental science, climate science, sustainability, geography, or related field
Skills:
- Geospatial analysis in QGIS and Google Earth Engine
- Carbon markets, impact evaluation and causal inference
- Ecological fieldwork planning and implementation
- Programming in C/C++/C#, MATLAB and Python
- Statistical and spatial analyses in R
- Drone operations, photogrammetry and wildlife dection
- Academc publishing
- Highly organized and proactive
- Highly self-motivated, excellent communicator and a team player
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Willing to work flexible hours and take on extra duties as required
Experience:
- Research experience in land ecosystems, coastal and marine ecosystems, ecosystem services, biodiversity, climate finance, policy and governance, urban solutions, spatial analysis, conservation technology, or related field
- Publication record commensurate with career stage
- At least five publications in a peer reviewed journal (preferred)
