Job Description:
1. To handle technical matters for technical management.
2. To provide feedback on technical matters to Japan Head Office.
3. To discuss technical matters with the Japan Head Office.
4. To act as a liaison to communicate with the Japan Head Office on shipbuilding industry and classification matters.
5. To monitor the technical performance of operating ships.
6. To monitor fuel oil and lubricant oil matter.
7. To monitor G-Claims/Trouble/Design Improvement matters and control data/information.
8. To organize “Fuel saving” activity.
9. To provide technical support for fleet management.
10. To handle technical emergency response.
11. To attend dry dock as a supervisor.
12. To discuss technical matters with ship builder, engine makers and suppliers.
13. To settle Port State Control matters by communicating with the vessel flag state or classification society to maintain the vessel schedule.
14. To maintain block fee contract.
15. To conduct flag change work to the Japan flag.
16. To act as a liaison to communicate with the Japanese Government (JG).
17. To liaise with Radio Accounting Authority (RAA)/ Accounting Authority Identification (AAI)/ Shore Based Maintenance (SM)(Non-Japan flag).
18. To handle technical support and documents in Japanese for Japanese flag ships.
19. To communicate and coordinate with Japanese owners and ship managers.
Job Requirements:
1. Good command of written Japanese is essential for preparing reports in Japanese and communicating with head office and related parties.
2. Hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Maritime Studies.
3. Qualification of First Grade Maritime Officer (Engineering) or higher.
4. Marine officer’s experience with more than 1 year as Chief engineer/1st Engineer/Junior 1st Engineer Sea experience, including LNG ship boarding experience.
5. Knowledge of Maritime regulations.
6. Knowledge of Certificate system for Japanese Flag vessels and ability to read relevant laws written in Japanese for Japanese flag ships.
7. Familiar with Maritime-related treaties.
8. Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 to comply with safety management and environmental protection standards.
9. Knowledge and ability to respond to new maritime technology developments especially environmental protection matters and related regulations.
