PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Senior Buyer will play a crucial role in our company's success by strategically sourcing and purchasing goods and materials that meet our business needs. You will be responsible for the entire procurement process, from researching and evaluating potential suppliers to negotiating contracts and managing the order fulfillment process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Research and identify qualified suppliers: Conduct market research to find potential suppliers who can meet our quality, price, and delivery requirements.
- Evaluate and select suppliers: Analyze proposals, negotiate contracts, and establish strong relationships with key vendors.
- Negotiate pricing and terms: Secure the most favorable terms and pricing for goods and services, while ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Manage the entire purchase order lifecycle: Execute on the creation, processing, and tracking of purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quantity and quality specifications.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels: Implement tools / methods to optimize inventory levels and minimize carrying costs of supplies and chemicals sourced locally/regionally while ensuring sufficient stock to meet demand.
- Monitor market trends: Stay informed about industry trends, commodity prices, and potential supply chain disruptions to optimize purchasing decisions.
- Maintain accurate records: Create, maintain and update ERP / Procurement System’s master data for suppliers, services and materials. Document purchases, track orders and spends, and generate reports for management.
- Collaborate with internal teams: Work closely with internal stakeholders, such as product development, operations planning and production, logistics & distribution, general administration, facility management and finance, to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Ah-hoc duties from time to time as directed by your Supervisor/Manager
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years & above of working experiences in a Buyer or procurement or purchasing role in a technically-oriented manufacturing or supply chain environment
- Proven experience in researching, negotiating and managing supplier relationships
- Proven track record of successfully managing procurement processes and achieving cost savings
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making
- Strong understanding of cost analysis and cost reduction methodologies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficient in MS Office and functional aspects of SAP MM and e-Purchasing tools
