Job Description
Under the umbrella of the Singapore’s largest scale birth cohort study, Growing up in Singapore Towards Healthy Outcomes (GUSTO), we are investigating the early factors (i.e. parenting and family processes) predicting children’s long-term adaptation in the domains of academic motivation, achievement, and mental health.
The research fellow will work with Dr. SETOH Peipei, Psychology, School of Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Dr. DING Xiaopan, Psychology, National University of Singapore, and Dr. Henning TIEMEIER, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
The main responsibilities of the Research Fellow are as follows:
- Engage in academic activities (perform data analyses, prepare manuscripts, reports, grants, and present findings at national and international conferences)
- Perform research duties (e.g., managing the lab’s IRB protocol, research grant administration and accounting, maintain budgets, submit reimbursement requests, database management, data cleaning, data processing)
- Perform teaching duties (e.g., Developmental Psychology tutorials, methods seminar classes, guest lectures)
- Recruit, train, and supervise undergraduate research assistants and graduate students
- Work with multidisciplinary teams of researchers and stakeholders from a wide range of fields, including developmental psychology, education, in collaboration with clinical experts in general and developmental-behavioral pediatrics
This fellowship provides substantial opportunities for new PhDs seeking significant experience, mentorship, and networking, as well as close collaboration with the Principal Investigators and considerable involvement in authorship of abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts.

Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Development, Public Health, or a closely related field
- A strong background in developmental research and experimental design
- Experience with research pertaining to children, parents, and families.
- Excellent statistical abilities, with advanced and expert proficiency in statistical language (e.g, R, SPSS, STATA, Mplus)
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Prior involvement in guiding and supporting undergraduate students
