Job Summary:
The Service Engineer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine diesel engines and electronic control systems on vessels. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, frequent on-site service, and close collaboration with clients to ensure optimal engine and system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on marine diesel engines and electronic control systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve engine and control system issues, minimizing downtime for clients.
Installation and Commissioning:
- Install and commission new marine diesel engines and electronic controllers, ensuring they meet manufacturer specifications and client requirements.
- Conduct performance tests and adjustments during the commissioning phase.
Technical Support:
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to clients, addressing and resolving engine and control system issues.
- Assist clients in understanding and operating their marine diesel engines and electronic controllers.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed service reports, including diagnostics, repairs performed, and parts used.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities and client interactions.
Client Liaison:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients during service visits, ensuring clear communication regarding service activities and any issues identified.
- Provide clients with recommendations for improving engine performance and extending the lifespan of their equipment.
Training:
- Conduct training sessions for client personnel on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of marine diesel engines and electronic control systems.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and provide internal training to colleagues as required.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all service activities comply with relevant safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
- Adhere to company safety protocols and promote a culture of safety during service operations.
Parts and Inventory Management:
- Manage and organize service tools and spare parts inventory, ensuring availability of necessary components for maintenance and repairs.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to order parts as needed.
Requirement:
- Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in servicing marine diesel engines and electronic control systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of marine diesel engines, electronic controllers, and related systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently in challenging environments.
- Good communication skills and customer-focused approach.
