General Responsibilities:
- Training and Development: Support the Head of Engineering in training and developing engineers on technical matters, including the handling and operation of all broadcast equipment.
- Daily Operations: Assist with engineering technical tasks to ensure the smooth running of daily engineering operations.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Establish and maintain SOPs for site surveys and create Production and Technical Integration Layout Plans. Review and update processes as needed for continuous improvement.
- Equipment Layout and Standardization: Design permanent layouts for equipment racks, including serial numbers and standardized panel placements. Support the process of rack and kit standardization.
- System Design Improvement: Assist in improving and testing system designs. Develop and implement processes for equipment testing and preparation, reviewing and updating procedures annually.
- Communication and Problem Escalation: Ensure effective communication and escalation processes for technical problems on all projects.
- Technical Development: Research and stay updated on technical development standards for current and new technologies. Provide technical support to clients.
- Project Templates: Design project templates to cover tasks needed for each project and keep project tasks updated.
Before Project:
- Specification Review: Review technical specifications of equipment and crew as prepared by the Sales Department.
- Client Interaction: Participate in client and contractor meetings and site surveys as needed. Address technical queries from clients prior to the project.
- Equipment List Expansion: Expand equipment lists from quotations to detailed lists, ensuring all required equipment is included.
- Engineering Book: Prepare an Engineering Book with technical information regarding router/switcher I/O, distribution assignments, cabin/room layouts, etc.
- Project Timeline: Create and manage a project timeline, adjusting based on changes in engineer availability, shipping schedules, deliverables, or project scope.
- Coordination: Communicate with the Equipment Planner, Warehouse, and Engineering Department to ensure the project is on track.
- Packing List Approval: Verify and approve the packing list for the project.
- Layout Preparation: Prepare Production and Technical Integration Layouts for each project, ensuring all relevant parties receive the information before the project starts.
During Project:
- Support Role: Act as part of the support team during the project, monitoring and responding to support emails and communications.
After Project:
- Post-Project Evaluation: Conduct evaluations of technical performance and issues encountered. Suggest improvements for future projects.
Requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Degree in Electrical, Communication, Broadcast Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 10+ years of relevant work experience in broadcast engineering.
- Expertise: Extensive knowledge of broadcasting equipment and products, including audio and vision mixers, radio communication products, cameras, and camera lenses.
- Training Experience: Experienced in technical training and knowledge transfer.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and provide multiple viable solutions to technical problems.
- Physical Capability: Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the role.
- Travel: Willingness to travel overseas for regional and international projects.
