We are looking for a self-motivated Addiction/Peer Recovery Coach for a new private residential treatment centre. The right candidate will have an opportunity for growth and development and to work together with a multidisciplinary team to guide clients towards recovery and positive transformation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide one-to-one support and para-counselling to clients
- Advocate and promote abstinence-based recovery from addictions
- Develop and conduct outreach work
- Assist with or conduct screening and risk assessment of clients
- Assist with detox management
- Assist the team with assessment of clients’ recovery
- Assist in running group work
- Support the running of the programme and operations
- Collaborate with team members for referral management
- Support and encourage clients to attend self-help groups regularly
- Conduct home or hospital visits when necessary
- Participate in education and training
Requirements:
- Willing to work flexible hours and days, including weekends, after-office hours, and occasional overnight shifts
- Strong empathy, communication and active listening skills
- Passionate about supporting individuals who are considering or in recovery from addiction to live fulfilling lives in the community
- Preferably with some experience in working with people struggling with addictions
- Volunteer experience and certified training in addiction work are a plus
- Personal lived experience of recovery is helpful for advocacy
- At least Diploma-level education
- Preferably a trained addiction coach or willing to be trained
