We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Analyst, Infrastructure Debt.
Principal Responsibilities
Impact on the Business / Function:
- Execute appropriate investment grade and non-investment grade infrastructure debt investments
- Support reporting to clients and handling of material waivers/amendments/restructurings related to the portfolio in co-operation with the Portfolio Monitoring team
- Support sustainable investment goals and initiatives in co-operation with the Private Credit responsible investment specialist
Customer / Stakeholders:
- Support the handling of client queries and client calls in co-operation with Investor Relations
- Liaise as necessary with other internal functions (e.g. Legal, Compliance, Risk) and external service providers (e.g. fund administrators, auditors)
Leadership & Teamwork:
- The role requires the candidate to work under the direction of other members of the infrastructure debt team, but will also be expected to show increasing initiative and independence over time
- Learning from senior members of the investments team about our investment process and philosophy
Operational Effectiveness & Control:
- Keeping the team’s documents and procedures updated and assisting the other team members to ensure they are adhered to, liaising with AMEU Risk, Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime Compliance where appropriate.
- Compliance with desk procedures and mandate restrictions
Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements):
- Assisting in ensuring desk procedures are up-to-date and consistent with operational risk and FIM requirement
- Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)
- Reporting of exceptions to Compliance, Risk and the head of team
- Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority)
- All investments, consents and waivers must be approved by the Infrastructure Debt Investment Committee, or under delegations from the IDIC
- Role Dimensions (e.g. balance sheet size, lending/expenditure limits, size/volume of transactions, budget. in USD’000)
- Contribute towards overall team objectives as embodied in the investment excellence framework
- Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holder’s abilities)
- Working with the other team members to ensure that all client requirements, desk procedures and AMEU governance and control standards are adhered to while growing the business rapidly, in an environment where there are few systemized controls
- Assisting in meeting investor capital deployment and return target objectives, delivering the expected risk profile, responding to changing market conditions
Qualifications - External
- Genuine interest, and preferably experience, in the infrastructure sector
- Good analytical skills; ability to assess key risks in transactions; ability to review due diligence reports and financial accounts in-depth
- Knowledge and experience of credit analysis and risk assessment
- Strong Excel skills and ability to review and build financial models
- Well-developed organizational skills; good time management and task planning
- Strong written English; ability to write in a clear, accurate and concise manner
- Good interpersonal skills; able to support other team members effectively and act persuasively with others
- Flexibility and independence; able to work on a wide variety of activities and be proactive
- Knowledge of rating agency methodologies (infrastructure finance, sovereigns) would be preferred, as would experience with ESG assessments
