Job Description Summary

The Lead Performance Engineer will report to Manager, Performance Engineering and will drive leadership towards the overall Performance Field Testing strategy and provide customer catered performance management support through the lifecycle of key GE customers under long term service agreements.


Essential Functions

In this role the candidate will be responsible for executing thermal guarantees of the assigned region portfolio of MYA contracts. The candidate will strategize and coordinate MYA performance testing, interact with internal teams and customers on technical issues, drive thermal performance improvement utilizing historical data and analytics, and lead productivity initiatives. In addition you will:

  • Develop short term and long term goals to address operational and testing issues that impact thermal testing cost and execution.
  • Develop and execute strategies geared towards maximizing thermal contract profitability.
  • Work closely with the regional operations, productivity, and outage teams during outage pre-planning to align and include thermal testing activities and performance improvement recommendations; follow through in implementation and ensure impact of inaction is understood by all stakeholders
  • Review MYA contracts to ensure testing procedures and practices are aligned to contract requirements and provide feedback to ITO as necessary
  • Drive adoption, successful execution, and continuous improvement of remote performance testing
  • Support the commissioning process for new units with MYA thermal guarantees, in order to fulfill the MYA requirements.
  • Manage the overall fulfillment of MYA thermal performance testing in assigned region, leveraging various organizations within Power Services
  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure significant lead time for planning and appropriate visibility to performance test backlog
  • Support technical review and approve test data, calculations, procedures and reports.
  • Provide the business with accurate technical assumptions in commercial and business trade-off discussions for contract renegotiations, new deal negotiations and contract amendments.
  • Provide support to performance ER cases on assigned portfolio of units.
  • Lead RCA’s and diagnostic efforts on assigned portfolio of units to ensure consistent message to external customers.
  • Support tool creation and development initiatives within the group
  • Support meetings at customer sites in the assigned region as needed

Desired Characteristics:

  • Candidate MUST have experience that would demonstrate technical knowledge and understanding of Gas Turbine, Combined Cycle and Steam Turbine Thermodynamics
  • Experience in a cross functional environment
  • Experience working with customers.
  • Mechanical Engineering Master’s degree
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Experience working with field data and information PC proficiency
