Job Description

The successful candidate will work with Principal Investigator Associate Professor Gigi Chiu on formulation development and characterizations under a project on Multifunctional Hydrogels for Diabetic Wound: Innovative Formulation Development.

The main responsibilities of the position include:
• To develop pharmaceutical applicable hydrogel formulations and characterize such formulations via assays for physicochemical and biological characterizations of pharmaceutical products.
• To prepare research manuscripts and disseminate research findings via publications.
• To assist PI in supervising juniors including but not limited to undergraduate and post-graduate students in the research lab.
• To serve as Key Safety Lead in PI’s lab and will be in-charge of day-to-day lab safety related matters. Should have obtained/passed lab safety requirements needed to perform the assays as mentioned, and must have prior experience as the Key Safety Lead of a research lab.

Qualifications

Qualifications / Discipline:
PhD graduate (> 1 yr) in Pharmaceutical science specifically in the area of formulation development and characterization.

Skills:
- Hands-on physico-chemical characterization of hydrogel and liposomes and hybrid formulations including rheological studies.
- Well-versed in in vitro cell culture techniques for hydrogel and liposomes and hybrid formulations characterization.
- Knowledgeable in hands-on animal model to evaluate formulation performance.

Experience:
- Well-versed in formulation characterization in the area of hydrogels as well as other in vitro cell culture studies required for the characterizations of such formulations.
- More than 3 yrs experience in supervising and working with research students and/juniors, with excellent communication skills.
- Must have served as the Key Safety Lead in a research wet-lab for at least 1-2 yrs, and knowledgeable in safety policies, risk assessments and practices. Prior experience as a fire warden is advantageous.
