Job Description
The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor Andrew Bettiol on the development of ion implantation for the generation of optically active spin defects in semiconductors and their characterization under a project on Colour centre engineering in wide band-gap semiconductor membranes using ion implantation.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
• To conduct ion irradiation experiments using the 3.5MV singletron accelerator in CIBA, Physics, NUS.
• To develop diamond based radiation detectors for deterministic implantation of defect centres in diamond.
• Perform optical characterization of defects using a home built confocal microscope. The characterization techniques that will be used include PL, Raman, ODMR and g(2).
• To perform various ion beam analysis on materials and devices including to characterize charge collection using techniques such as IBIC. Other techniques include STIM,RBS and PIXE measurements.
• To supervise/mentor undergraduate and graduate students that work in the CIBA lab.
• To perform computer simulation/modelling work related to devices that will be fabricated using lithography and ion implantation.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Qualifications / Discipline: PhD in physics or a related discipline
Skills:
• Vacuum technologies, instrumentation and running ion beam systems such as an electrostatic accelerator or ion implanter.
• Computer simulation and coding in c++, python
• Clean-room experience, lithography, sputtering, liftoff etc
• Electrical characterization of devices, IV, CV etc
• Optical characterization of materials including PL, Raman, ODMR and g(2)
• Device fabrication using lithography.
• Electronics and PCB design and layout
Experience:
• Research experience at graduate level.
