Job Purpose:
The Resident Associate at Her Sanctuary is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the facility, focusing on the safety and well-being of women with challenging backgrounds.
This position is required to reside at Her Sanctuary and ensure a supportive environment by managing operational activities and collaborating with staff to enhance the residents’ progress.
Role Description – Key Responsibilities:
Resident Support and Supervision
- Provide 12-hour supervision, ensuring your presence during nighttime hours to maintain a safe and secure environment for residents.
- Conduct regular rounds throughout the facility to monitor resident activity and ensure compliance with rules and guidelines.
- Remain alert and attentive to any signs of distress, emergencies, or unusual activity during the night.
Facility Support
- Assist with maintaining the sanctuary’s cleanliness and compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate with staff and vendors to ensure timely repairs and maintenance.
- Ensure essential supplies and resources are available, prioritizing resident comfort and safety.
Security and Safety
- Assist in implementing security protocols to maintain a secure living environment.
- Participate in regular safety inspections and promptly report any hazards.
- Support emergency response efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
Communication and Handover
- Communicate effectively with the day staff during shift handovers, providing updates on resident well-being and any incidents that occurred during the night.
- Ensure a smooth transition between shifts to maintain consistent support and supervision for residents.
Program Support
- Foster a culture of collaboration, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Work Experience
- Previous work in a role providing support or assistance, ideally within a social services or residential setting.
- Experience with managing or maintaining residential facilities, including overseeing cleanliness and safety.
- Familiarity with security measures and safety procedures in a residential or institutional environment.
- Experience handling emergencies or crises, demonstrating the ability to remain calm and act effectively under pressure.
- Work experience with individuals from diverse or challenging backgrounds, particularly women in transitional or rehabilitative settings.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff, and external partners.
- Experience working collaboratively within a team to achieve common goals and provide comprehensive support.
- Previous work or volunteer experience in related social service organizations.
