The Product Manager, Ophthalmology (Digital Workflow and Software Platform) is responsible to drive the product definition and development process of new Leica Medical software and related computer hardware platform. S/he is tasked to identify and develop new disruptive technologies to cover the demand of future digital workflows based on artificial intelligence and other self-learning algorithms. This position is furthermore responsible to ensure the integration of the utilized digital sensors and hardware into new and existing software platforms in cooperation with R&D team and technology partners.
This position will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing of customer needs in Ophthalmology workflows to identify pain points and the required digital workflow applications as well as respective market/competition dynamics. S/he will define, plan, develop the appropriate digital workflow applications roadmap and manage the relevant product life cycle including product basic material costs (BMC) and margin.
The responsibility will also include the definition and quantification of business opportunities as well as the derivation of the strategic direction for the product development. Working with Ophthalmology Imaging Platform Product Manager, and OCT Product Manager to manage the Advisory Board and Open Innovation Partners completes the job specification of the position.

S/he has cross-functional responsibilities, which require cooperating with various departments within the company (Upstream/Downstream Product and Marketing management, Business Management, Sales, Applications, Hardware R&D, Software R&D, System Engineering and Integration, RA/QA, Operations and external partners).
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION
a) Professional Experience
- Minimum 5 years proven experience in Product Management, Sales or Marketing in life science, medical or imaging software industry.
- Demonstrated success in leading innovation project
b) Education
- Master / Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Business Administration
- Preferred: MBA
