Our client is a leading Pre-series A fintech company focuses on using blockchain technology to bridge the gap between traditional and digital economies by offering payment solutions, particularly for cross-border trade. They provide secure, transparent financial solutions that empower global businesses, especially in emerging markets, to engage in seamless cross-border trade.
They are currently looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior/ Legal Counsel to join their team in Singapore. Reporting into the CEO, the incumbent will provide expert legal guidance on all aspects of the business, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, managing legal risks, and supporting the growth in a rapidly evolving industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that business's operations comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including financial regulations, data protection, and blockchain-specific requirements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including partnership agreements, vendor contracts, and customer agreements across different jurisdictions
- Assist in the negotiation of agreements and provide transactional legal advisory to the business
- Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, providing proactive advice to the management team.
- Advise on corporate governance matters, including board resolutions, company policies, and internal compliance programs.
- Manage and resolve any legal disputes or litigation involving the company, working with external counsel as needed.
- Provide legal support for strategic initiatives, such as market expansion, product launches, and mergers and acquisitions.
- Work closely with in co-founders on strategic legal matters.
- Manage relationships and communication with regulatory bodies, authorities, and industry groups.
- Monitor developments and provide guidance on evolving digital assets regulations in Singapore and the region.
Qualifications:
- Holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Master of Laws (LLM), or Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of PQE, preferably in fintech, blockchain, or financial services sectors.
- Called to the bar in New York, Singapore, England, or another reputable jurisdiction.
- Well-versed in CMS and MPI licensing.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and contract management skills and has a strategic mindset and the ability to manage complex legal issues.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical and commercially-oriented legal solutions.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing regulatory landscapes and provide proactive legal guidance.
- Familiarity with cryptocurrency regulations and blockchain technology.
- Proficiency in English is required, with fluency in Mandarin.
- Willingness to travel occasionally
