We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Farm Manager to oversee end-to-end operations of our cutting-edge indoor vertical farm. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations based in Amsterdam, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of farm production, team leadership, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:Production & Budget Management: Take ownership of the farm’s production goals and budget, ensuring targets are met within financial constraints.
Operational Oversight: Manage all aspects of farm operations, from planting to harvesting, and work cross-functionally to address and resolve operational challenges.
Process Optimization: Implement and drive changes to optimize production processes and improve operational efficiency.
Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and support to farm staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Performance Tracking: Utilize analytical tools to monitor key metrics and drive improvements in operational effectiveness.
Staff Management: Oversee the hiring, training, and performance management of technical operations staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to perform their roles.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all operations and personnel adhere to safety protocols, industry regulations, and company policies. Promote a culture of safety and compliance.
Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and directives related to operations, food safety, and employee safety.
Collaboration: Work closely with global Labs and Sales Teams to refine products, expand the product portfolio, and align with market needs.
Maintenance Planning: Plan and coordinate the maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
Performance Goals: Develop and pursue operational performance and productivity goals in collaboration with the Head of Operations, contributing to the annual business plan and ongoing improvement initiatives.
Additional Duties: Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Operations or the Board.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher
- Proven experience in managing operations within an indoor farming or similar environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team.
- Excellent computer and analytical skills, including experience with performance tracking and process optimization.
- Comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and operational compliance.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Experience in budget management and cost control.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
- Hands on approach and ability to work in an open environment with a flat hierarchy.
- Able to work weekends and be available for any emergencies.
