This is an in-house legal counsel position. Serve as the legal advisor to ITOCHU's business and administrative departments in Singapore and other overseas offices in Asia & Oceania region, to resolve various legal issues and challenges arising from commercial transactions and investments.
Key responsibilities include contract management, dispute management, corruption risk evaluation and management, compliance investigation and education.
Job Description:
- Provide legal advice and support to business and administrative departments on various legal issues
- Draft and negotiate contracts and other legal documents for various commercial transactions
- Initiate, manage and assist in resolving claims, litigations, arbitrations, bad debt collections and other disputes and legal proceedings
- Handle internal legal applications, such as applications for contract review, appointing business partners, commencing litigations
- Conduct corruption risk check on business partners, support compliance investigations and deliver compliance training
- Monitor changes to important laws and regulations and provide updates
- Draft, amend and update internal legal rules and guidelines
Other requirements:
- Law Degree from accredited law school in Singapore
- Admission to the bar in Singapore or another major common law jurisdiction preferred
- 1 to 3 years professional experience in a legal role within corporate legal department or at a law firm preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to build strong relationships and trusts with internal and external stakeholders.
