Our client, a renowned and prestigious international bank, is seeking a Operational Risk Officer to join their Internal Control and Compliance Department.
Position Title: Operational Risk Officer
Reporting To: Internal Control and Compliance Manager
Main Tasks and Duties:
- 1. Advise and support departments in identifying, assessing, and controlling operational risks within business processes.
- 2. Review, update, and maintain documentation for Operational Risk Management, Fraud Management, and New Product Management policies and procedures.
- 3. Collaborate with departments to report operational risk events, establish root causes, and develop appropriate mitigation action plans.
- 4. Support initiatives and reviews on operational risks, including fraud risks, to ensure the implementation and enforcement of incident reporting, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and other initiatives from Head Office.
- 5. Lead and oversee outsourcing risk management to ensure that outsourcing risk exposure remains within acceptable control levels. Perform due diligence and risk assessments of Outsourcing Service Providers in line with MAS Outsourcing Notice and the bank’s Outsourcing Risk Policy and Procedures.
- 6. Analyze and mitigate operational risks arising from new products, support the New Product Approval process, and serve as the Secretariat of the New Product Committee.
- 7. Assist the organization in achieving its business continuity objectives, support business plan activities, facilitate regular BCP plans and testing, update Business Impact Analyses (BIA) and Business Continuity Plans (BCP), and ensure all departments document recovery strategies for their business functions.
- 8. Perform independent checks on internal bank-wide transaction activities and review Private Banking’s telephone call records for investment-related trades to identify unusual or suspicious activities.
- 9. Oversee bank-wide Policies and Procedures (P&P) management, including initiating periodic P&P management tasks, and managing all activities related to updating and publishing policies and procedures in the P&P system.
- 10. Facilitate Business User Access Reviews, maintain the Business System Listing, and act as the System Administrator for systems maintained by the Internal Control and Compliance Department (ICCD).
- 11. Prepare operational risk reports and presentation materials for the Risk Management Committee (RMC), Senior Management, Head Office, and regulators.
- 12. Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor or Management.
Job Requirements:
- Recognized bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Business, Banking, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within a financial institution.
- Passionate, keen to learn, and able to perform professionally.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of MAS Guidelines on Risk Management practices, BCM guidelines, and Outsourcing Notices.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to a dynamic environment.
