Trainee ROV Operator

Job Description:

We are looking for a Trainee ROV Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in underwater technology and a keen desire to advance in the field of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). In this role, you will work closely with seasoned operators to gain practical experience in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting ROV systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with ROV operations for underwater hull cleaning tasks.
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in underwater technology and robotics.
  • Help troubleshoot technical issues with ROV equipment.
  • Operate ROV systems efficiently and safely during underwater missions.
  • Conduct pre- and post-dive checks to ensure ROV equipment and systems are functioning properly.
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on ROV systems, including electronic, electrical, mechanical, and computing components.
  • Collaborate with project teams to plan and execute ROV operations in line with project requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze data collected by the ROV during missions.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
  • Accurately document ROV operations, maintenance activities, and data analysis results.
  • Assist in developing and testing new ROV technologies and systems.
  • Exhibit a willingness to learn and embrace new challenges.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures during operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Technical or Operations Manager.

Requirements:

  • Physically fit and able to work in challenging environments.
  • Previous offshore ROV experience is preferred but not required.
  • Relevant dive technician certification accepted by the Singapore Authority.
  • Basic knowledge in one or more of the following areas: electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic engineering.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Detail-oriented, task-focused, and committed to high-quality work.
  • Positive, hands-on attitude with a collaborative approach to team goals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a vessel and shipyard environment.
  • Practical experience with diving equipment and safety procedures.
  • Strong understanding of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and computing principles.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Adaptable to changing project requirements and dynamic environments.
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote locations as needed.
