As part of our technical operations team, this role will have primary responsibility for managing the real-time production trading environment for Jump Trading. It will require deep technical and operational knowledge across all areas of the trading platform in order to proactively monitor and troubleshoot our trading system, deploy changes to our production environment while minimizing operational risk, and implement tools and processes to drive continuous improvement.
The Technical Operations Systems Engineer will solve complex problems that require both strong technical and trading business knowledge. The engineer will work closely with internal technical and operation teams and external parties to troubleshoot and resolve any technical or trading related issues.
What you'll do:
- Proactively monitor, support and troubleshoot mission critical trading systems and applications to ensure the maximum uptime and availability.
- Implement and improve the DevOps tools set to automate the application configuration and deployment.
- Perform continuous in-depth analysis and review of monitoring system.
- Provide support to traders on day-to-day requests and issues.
- Work closely with the other internal technical teams to analyze and troubleshoot complex system problems and incidents.
- Work closely with the internal Operation teams (Risk Management, Clearing) on Risk or order/trades related issues.
- Interact and communicate with external parties, i.e Exchanges or Brokers, on connectivity or order/trades related technical issues.
- Manage and assess the operational risk of change control into the production environment.
- Document the new processes and procedures to make sure that all documentation are up-to-date and relevant.

Skills you'll need:
- Degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Relevant work experience in an IT ops role, such as DevOps, Linux Systems Engineering, or Network Engineering
- Experience in the HFT or finance related industry would be ideal
- Proven software development experience using Python (preferred), Perl, Golang or equivalent
- Experience with GIT and Jenkins
- Proven hands-on experience with configuration management system (Ansible, Puppet, Salt or equivalent)
- Familiarity with C++.
- Experience reading and understanding exchange order entry and market data protocols such as FIX, OUCH, SBE, or ITCH
- Strong understanding of the Linux operating system, including network and system configuration, kernel internals, scheduling, performance tuning
- Strong understanding of networking concepts such as routing, multicast, LLDP, VLAN tagging, ethernet
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A deep sense of ownership and urgency
- A rigorous, detail-oriented approach to operations
- Ability to handle shared operational responsibilities and periodic on-call duties as needed
- Reliable and predictable availability
