ROLE: Chartering Manager
LOCATION: Singapore
DEPARTMENT: Chartering DRY
JOB DESCRIPTION
This role is a key position in the Chartering Department, reporting to the Head of Chartering but working closely with all members of the Group. Specific focus on developing backhaul trades in the Supramax/handy sector, managing fleet positions and people. Candidates making a success of this role may, over time, see themselves establishing, managing and having overall responsibility for satelllite offices overseas. Willingness to relocate to Europe in the future.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the chartering aspects for specific trade routes identified – Handy to Ultramax including Parcelling sector.
- Along with maintaining own existing accounts, developing new accounts/customers.
- Maintain a high level of market intelligence in the region/market of interest to the company.
- Negotiation and execution of Charter parties in accordance with the Voyage and Time Charter In and Out Procedures.
- Execute a strategy for fertiliser industry customers / trades.
- Execution of all fertiliser trade in pacific region and responsible of tonnage fixtures
- Updating IMOS and Signal Ocean software to share market intelligence.
- Liaise with our parent company in Ireland.
Experience/ Skills/ Competencies:
- Minimum 10 years experience in Commercial Dry Bulk chartering.
- Degree in maritime studies, business or related field
- Experience in managing a team
- Strong network of client base as per requirement with proven track record
- Maintaining and building relationships in the Pacific region and intensive travel is required
- Proficiency in chartering software, IMOS, Signal Ocean
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work on multiple complex projects and tasks simultaneously
- Strong ethical and business principle attributes are essential.
