This is an exciting opportunity to join an early-stage venture in the field of microbial (yeast) fermentation. You will help lead downstream process development for a biotech venture working on producing high-value fats/lipids (starting with palm oil and palm-oil derived ingredients) using precision fermentation. The candidate will work closely with the CTO to direct and achieve R&D objectives, including the design, operation and optimization of downstream processing methods for the isolation and purification of lipids.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Masters in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Process engineering, Bioprocess technology, and relevant fields
- Strong knowledge of Downstream processes, including fermented broth separations, lipid separation & purification
- Experience in Microbial downstream processes, both intra-cellular and extra-cellular, including separation and purification methods (e.g. centrifugation, freeze drying and/or homogenization)
- Experience in various downstream processes, ranging from small scale to higher scale
- Familiarity with Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) processes; prior experience working with CDMOs is a huge plus
- Hands-on experience in project-related activities, including equipment qualification and process validation for downstream processes
- Ability to prepare all process-related documents in adherence to quality standards
- Prior experience running Techno-economic analysis (TEA) preferred
