Job Description

The IT Associate Director is responsible for overseeing the spectrum of IT Projects relating to Alumni and Donors, including new product/project implementation and day-to-day IT operational support. The role involves managing a team of IT professionals to ensure quality IT project delivery and support in accordance with the project scope, budget, and timelines that align with NUS IT’s strategic goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management:

  • Oversees the delivery of projects to ensure that targets are met. This includes, amongst others, conducting user requirement analysis, participating in solution design, planning and executing testing, deploying solutions to ‘live’, etc.
  • Accountable for the overall successful delivery of projects.
  • Lead and manage complex IT projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery within budget and scope.
  • Communicate project status and escalate issues to stakeholders effectively.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the IT team, ensuring all staff are motivated, productive, and aligned with the NUS IT's mission and goals.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  • Manages project team to optimise workforce resources while maintaining healthy team morale.
  • Manages procurement, including preparing and publishing tender specifications, evaluating and recommending potential solutions and/or vendors, contract management, etc.
  • Liaises closely with vendors to ensure successful delivery of products and/or services in accordance with the contract.

Maintenance and Support:

  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term IT roadmaps to support business growth and innovation.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all IT systems and applications and ongoing application maintenance and support to ensure SLAs are met.
  • Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, system stability, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Oversees and/or provides maintenance and support of applications, including, amongst others, delivery of enhancements and bug fixes,
  • Work closely with business users in annual IT project planning and enhancement prioritisation.
  • Liaise closely with vendors to ensure the successful provision of support and maintenance in accordance with the contract.
  • Creates, updates and/or reviews systems artefacts and deliverables to ensure quality and NUS guidelines and policies are met.
  • Performs systems and data analysis, including analysing existing system/program logic difficulties and revising the logic and procedures as necessary.
  • Handles audit queries and ensures audit and security compliance are met.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in IT management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of IT technologies, methodologies, architectures, and best practices.
  • Proven experience in managing IT projects and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong business process and analytical skills with the ability to assimilate information quickly and communicate complex requirements and issues clearly and concisely.
  • Understanding the business questions that users are trying to answer is essential.
  • Excellent stakeholder, staff and vendor management skills are required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Certification in ITIL, PMP, or similar is a plus.
  • Experience in the Higher Education industry or prior experience in Alumni and Donors related IT systems is a bonus.
