Working closely with the Finance Chairman and Treasurer, the Accounts Team Lead will manage a spectrum of finance-related activities that includes monthly and annual financial closing, budgeting, audit matters and pledge management. The person is responsible for providing advice on procurement matters to ensure that the Church’s Finance policy and guidelines are applied accordingly, and review procurement processes and implement improvement measures as required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee and maintain the accuracy of the general ledger by ensuring all financial transactions are recorded precisely.
2. Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring that they adhere to accounting standards and company policies.
3. Preparation and consolidation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
4. Manage the administration of various records including Fixed Assets, Donations and Pledges.
5. Compile and prepare monthly financial reports for the Board.
6. Provide accounting guidance and support to ministries within the organization, and supervisory role for Accounts Team.
7. Key liaison for internal and external audits by providing the necessary documentation and information.
8. Ensure sufficient internal controls are in place so that resources especially monetary matters are properly accounted for, and policies and legislation are complied with.
9. Responsible for payroll and statutory payment submissions.
10. Play an active role in the digitalisation of the accounting system and process.
11. Assist in investment, human resource and administration matters, and any duties assigned by Operations Manager.
Requirements
· At least 5 years of experience in accounting handling full sets of accounts.
· Diploma/Degree in Accountancy or CA qualifications preferred.
· Proficient in MS office suite specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word
· Working knowledge of SAGE Accounting software would be advantageous.
· Proven experience as a Team Lead or in a similar supervisory role.
