The Coal Trader (Procurement Focus) will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring coal for the company’s supply chain. The role requires developing strong supplier relationships, identifying the most cost-effective purchasing opportunities, and ensuring consistent coal supply to meet customer and business requirements. Additionally, the trader will be involved in market analysis, contract negotiation and sales
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and source coal from domestic and international suppliers.
- Negotiate purchase agreements and contracts with coal producers and intermediaries to ensure competitive pricing and reliable supply.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders to optimize procurement processes.
- Monitor supplier performance, ensuring compliance with agreed terms and specification
- Provide market insights and intelligence to internal stakeholders to inform strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with the logistics and shipping teams to coordinate the timely and efficient transport of coal from suppliers to designated locations.
- Track and report on coal procurement activities, including cost analysis, purchase volume, and supplier performance.
- Collaborate with Operations and other trading teams to achieve success.
- Ad-hoc duties whenever required
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in commodities trading, specifically in coal procurement.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- In-depth understanding of global coal markets and supply chain logistics.
- Good communication skills in Chinese to communicate and liaise with key stakeholders
- Experience working with international suppliers and navigating import/export regulations.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously
