Telecom Engineer

Responsibilities

• Report to and provide support to the Lead Telecom Engineer on assigned projects and report to the Head - Instrumentation Engineering at the basis level.
• Be familiar with and implement Company work processes, procedures and quality policy as appropriate on assigned areas of projects.
• Be aware of Company contractual requirements and Scope Boundaries.
• Be responsible for technical integrity and progress of assigned Instrumentation Engineering scope and deliverables as per the budget and schedule requirements of the project.
• Be responsible for preparation of Field Telecommunication deliverables as per the schedule requirements of the project. These include but not limited to

1. Navigation & Telecom System Design Basis
2. Preparation Engineering Documents such as Technical Specifications, Equipment Data sheets, MTO and Technical bid Evaluation
3. Participates in Project meeting / 3D model review / Technical meeting / Workshop, attends to attend the basic technical queries and issues related to Telecom system design and reviews the deliverables by Vendor.
4. Preparation Engineering Deliverables such as Interconnection diagram, Termination Diagram. Block Diagram and Equipment Layout in compliance with requirements of contract classifications and Regulations.
5. Prepare the System Description including Interfaces and functions of the system including the necessary information.
6. Preparation of Interface Register, Patching list (CAT 7 and Fibres) and Cable schedule as well.

• Review, Comment and Approve Telecom vendor / System Integrator and Supplier documents such as GA and Internal wiring, Datasheets, Conceptional Block Diagram and System Topology diagrams.
• Provide necessary technical support to the Lead/ package responsible Engineer to obtain necessary approvals from the verification body / classification society or other applicable approving authorities.
• Ensure that the work is carried out to the specified QHSE requirements
• Maintain a positive and safe working environment at work location
• Comply without fail with the company code of conduct and always ensure ethical behaviour. Unethical behaviour shall not be tolerated
• Strive to continually upgrade competence level of self
• Encourage to and always seek improvements to the project costs and schedule
• Refer to generic discipline deliverable list for details of discipline deliverables
• Understand and comply with internal control procedures

Work Experience

• Minimum 9 years of experience in Telecom design engineering. Lesser experience may be considered for junior roles.
• Prior work experience with medium/ large sized green field projects in the offshore oil & gas industry OR Wind Energy Projects possess a good understanding of project phases, milestones, deliverables, internal and external interfaces.
• Applicants must have sound technical knowledge on field Telecom equipment and systems.
• Applicant shall possess relevant design experience in reputed Engineering consultancy/organization with development of typical Telecom Engineering deliverables such as but not limited to Project Specifications and Philosophies.
• Experience in handling Telecom procurement packages as a Package Responsible engineer would be an advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering or Electrical with relevant work experience as per above may also apply.

Other Skills

• A self-starter who can work independently, make sound decisions, analyse problems and provide focused solutions.
• Good understanding and knowledge of oil and natural gas industry OR Renewable Energy (WIND Energy Projects) standards such as, but not limited to, API (American Petroleum Institute), ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation), IEC, NORSOK, EU Directives ATEx, IECex requirements and other relevant standards related to Instrumentation Engineering.
• Effective technical communication (verbal and written) skills with proven ability to present technical issues to design teams, client, technical authorities and verification bodies.
• ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity certifications would be an advantage.
• IEC 61508 CFSE/CFSP certification would be an advantage.
