About Our Client
Our client is a large Asian conglomerate headquartered in Singapore. They manage a group of companies in various resource-based industries, and are looking for a mid-level lawyer to support the legal requirements in various large-scale gas/LNG and renewable energy projects, both ongoing and in the pipeline, including the negotiation of LNG SPAs.
The role involves providing legal support for these projects, managing disputes, offering general legal advisory services to the business, and ensuring effective management of legal and contractual risks.
Job Description
Contracts
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to significant gas/LNG and renewable energy projects, focusing on LNG SPAs.
- Provide legal guidance and support throughout the lifecycle of large-scale projects, covering NDAs, bidding/tendering processes, contract negotiations, and the execution phase, including managing variation and extension of time claims and liquidated damages.
- Advise on potential legal risks and propose effective mitigation strategies.
- Oversee a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including contract drafting, review, and negotiation, to safeguard the company's interests.
Merger & Acquisitions
- Experience in supporting M&A transactions, investments, and other strategic corporate transactions is a plus.
Litigation & Disputes Management
- Develop strategies and manage disputes and contentious matters in collaboration with external counsel and the management team.
- Handle ad hoc projects as required.
- Ensure that internal legal policies and guidelines are clearly communicated and followed, and provide training to internal clients and colleagues when necessary.
The Successful Applicant
- LL.B or equivalent qualification, with credentials from a reputable university and admission in Singapore, England, or another common-law jurisdiction.
- Minimum 6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) with a strong background in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts related to gas/LNG and renewable energy projects, including LNG SPAs.
- Proven experience in managing infrastructure project disputes and resolving related legal issues. Experience with large-scale projects in the SEA region is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and research capabilities.
- Background in a reputable international law firm or an in-house role within a multinational company is preferred. International experience is highly valued.
- Experience with regional work and a diverse range of business operations.
- Mature, resilient, and energetic, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and provide reliable legal advice.
- Capable of managing a demanding internal client base, prioritizing tasks, handling multiple issues simultaneously, and meeting tight deadlines.
- Self-driven with strong initiative, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while being an effective team player.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, quick thinking, detail-oriented, and commercially astute.
- Hands-on, adaptable, and able to work effectively across different cultures.
