Role Overview: The Research Administrator will perform administrative functions and support tasks within the Research Department. This role involves facility management, non-technical administrative duties, and some technical support.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Facility Management and Administrative Tasks (80%):
Inventory Management:
- Maintain and order supplies of laboratory chemicals and consumables.
- Keep an updated inventory of chemicals and consumables.
- Purchase packaging materials and raw ingredients.
Waste Management: - Coordinate the disposal of unwanted or obsolete chemicals and laboratory waste.
- Maintain waste disposal documentation.
Site Maintenance and Safety: - File and manage Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on SharePoint.
- Oversee laboratory infrastructure upkeep, including lighting, plumbing, air handling, and safety equipment.
- Track equipment maintenance and calibration schedules.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors for scheduled maintenance.
- Liaise with building owners and vendors for facility maintenance and address any issues.
- Manage scheduled electricity shutdowns and general site safety.
General Administration: - Create purchase orders and manage shipment documentation.
- Schedule weekly lab activities and manage COVID-19 safety protocols as required.
- Handle the receiving and managing of vendors, contractors, and visitors.
- Coordinate laboratory laundry needs and general housekeeping tasks.
2. Technical Support (20%):
- Assist with requests for feature formulations from Sales and Marketing.
- Perform formulation scale-ups and prepare samples.
- Assist with prototype packing.
Communication:
- Internal: Collaborate with managers, employees at the site, and colleagues from other sites.
- External: Interact with suppliers, contractors, professional advisers, and public authority employees.
Requirements:
- Education: Diploma in Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Process Technology, or equivalent.
- Experience: Prior experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proactive and approachable.
