The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Fellow on a 12-month contract at the Office of Graduate Studies and Professional Learning.
Project Title: Kinetic Strategy in Resistance Training Exercises
Project Introduction: Resistance training is an effective exercise modality for improving health, enhancing sports performance, and facilitating rehabilitation. This project will apply biomechanical techniques to examine the coordination between multiple joints in the lower extremities during selected resistant training exercises.
Requirements:
- A PhD degree in biomechanics, strength and conditioning or related scientific discipline
- Minimum 3 years of research experience on exercise-related areas
- Good understanding of the nature and risk associated with moderate-to-high intensity exercise
- Good knowledge of kinetics and kinematics of human movements
- Ability to collect quantitative research data using biomechanical equipment such as force platforms and 3D motion capture systems
- Ability to independently supervise exercise intervention using resistance training equipment
- Ability to write codes (e.g. MATLAB, Python) for data processing
- Good knowledge in statistical analysis and interpretation
- Good research track record in academic publications and conference presentations related to biomechanics research
- Excellent organisation and project management skills
Responsibilities:
- Work in a team to recruit participants, schedule and conduct experiments in the NIE Sports Biomechanics Laboratory
- Supervise resistance training exercise interventions
- Perform biomechanical analysis of exercise movements using specialised software and customised codes
- Handle research data management and administrative tasks associated with the project
- Assist with ethics application, annual review and reporting
- Run statistical analysis on quantitative data
- Prepare reports, conference abstracts/papers and presentations
- Write manuscripts for journal publications
- Support general maintenance of the laboratory and other department duties
- Mentor junior research staff and students
- Other related duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator
