Job Description
The Mechanobiology Institute, Singapore is a multidisciplinary institute committed to developing new paradigms for biomedical research by focusing on the quantitative analysis of dynamic functional processes. Through quantitative biophysical approaches, we address major problems in biomedical sciences including pathogenesis (from bacterial to cancer), tissue regeneration, and function.
We are seeking to recruit a Research Assistant to work in the research group of Assoc. Prof. Tony Kanchanawong at the Mechanobiology Institute, NUS. The Kanchanawong lab develops and applies superresolution microscopy and advanced imaging techniques to understand how cells build complex nanoscale machines from basic biomolecular building blocks to perform vital biological functions. The group explored these themes using super-resolution microscopy, optogenetics and microfabricated substrates.
Candidates should have a good grasp of cell and/ or molecular biology. The candidate's responsibilities will also include:
- Being the Laboratory Safety Officer for the research group
- Assisting research staff and students with support for procurement
- Asset Inventory
- Supporting research project activities as needed
Qualifications
- a Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, biomedical engineering, computational biology or related disciplines
- At least 1 year of experience working in a research lab (including final-year Hons. project/Undergraduate project)
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and work collaboratively in a cross-disciplinary research environment
- (preferred) Experience in cell and molecular biology and image analysis softwares
