Associate, People Partner

Asia People Operations

An integral part of the Asia People team, you provide local expertise on People-related matters by taking a hands-on approach to execute the People Strategy, ensure operational efficiency and contribute to a positive employee experience. You will help drive a high performing culture that supports Balyasny’s mission, vision, and values.


Business Partnering

  • Provide People support and advice to the organization as a primary point of contact, respond to requests and recommend effective solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Asia People Partner to foster a positive employee experience by assisting with the implementation of programs, enhancing employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including conflict resolutions and disciplinary actions.
  • Support with the separation process and own off-boarding activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to day-to-day management of employees by partnering with legal and compliance as required.
  • Assist with People metrics, analysis, and reporting’s to identify trends, provide information and insights to support decision making.
  • Support the Asia People Partner with key strategic projects and organizational development activities.
  • Partner with the global People Team members to ensure a consistent approach throughout the employee life cycle.

People Operations

  • Hiring & Onboarding
    • Hiring Candidates into Workday & aiding in the onboarding process
    • New Hire Orientation coordination and presentation
    • Work closely with Business Development, Accounting, Tech, Compliance and People team to respond to all questions from new hire and the manager
    • Assist new hires in questions on the selection or clarification of benefit offerings
  • Workday
    • In addition to what has been described elsewhere, all data input, maintenance and updating as required
    • Saving down all personnel documents such as employment contracts
    • Maintaining and updating org charts
  • Employment Data Maintenance
    • Management and maintenance of personnel files
    • Maintaining employee files on the People drive
    • Accurately updating employee data on various SharePoint and tracker docs
  • Employment Verifications / Letters of Employment / Regulatory References
    • Complete all Regulatory References and general reference requests
    • Whilst there are have standard templates, it is not uncommon to get a niche request that will require consultation with People team or Legal colleagues as appropriate.
    • Background Checks
    • Undertake annual background checks for current staff.
    • Ensuring background checks are comprehensively checked and completed. Review each report and address or highlight issues, partnering with the Compliance team as and when appropriate.
  • Benefits
    • Employee data input for benefits, enrolments, amendments, ad hoc updates, etc.
    • Respond to employee benefit questions
  • Leavers and Offboarding
    • Undertake the entire leaver administration process, working closely with Accounting, Tech, Compliance and People team to answer all queries
    • Draft separation letters and agreements
    • Assist with correspondence
    • Updating Workday and SharePoint and tracker docs as applicable
  • Process improvement
    • Where directed, act as a change agent to identify process improvements, review and update current processes and policies to ensure they adhere to relevant local laws, are best practice, robust and meet business needs.
    • Work in collaboration with colleagues to identify tasks and processes which could be automated; test these processes and provide feedback
  • Misc.
    • Responding to queries from managers and employees, ensuring all queries are dealt with correctly and escalate where appropriate.

Skills and Experience

  • 5-8 years of experience as an HR Generalist / Administration role, preferably in a dynamic fast paced financial company
  • Solid understanding of HR best practices in a global, matrix environment and across HR generalist and CoE roles
  • Good understanding of employment law, and regulatory requirements in Asia
  • Exceptional ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities and deliver results in a dynamic environment
  • Strong desire to learn and high attention to detail
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated Workday experience
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize own workload, delivering high quality work by required deadlines
  • Good business judgement to resolve problems
  • Great sense of empathy, pragmatism, and a proactive can-do mindset
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously
