Job Description
The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Centre for Interventional Psychiatry in the Department of Psychological Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Centre for Interventional Psychiatry (CIP) is a new addition to the Department of Psychological Medicine with the aim of allowing NUH to be first in the region to offer a full spectrum of cutting-edge treatments for neuropsychiatric conditions (e.g. precision transcranial magnetic stimulation, individualized electroconvulsive therapy) spanning psychiatry, neurology, neurosurgery, rehabilitation and pain in one hospital and creating a feedforward cycle of development.
The postdoctoral Research Fellow (RF) will be responsible for, and work closely with, the Director of the Centre for Interventional Psychiatry (CIP) and study team members to ensure the successful development of the CIP competitive research program. The RF’s principal role will be to work with the PI to secure competitive research grant funding in Interventional Psychiatry and successfully conduct trials e.g. to work in general practices such as grant preparation/submission, recruitment, data collection, data entry/analysis, manuscript writing, etc. The RF will also be involved in the development of specialist training programs in the CIP that further its clinical, research and educational mission. The postdoctoral Research Fellow will liaise with the relevant personnel in the hospital to smooth the process of recruitment and data collection and will be accountable to the Director of the Centre for Interventional Psychiatry.
The RF will:
- Submit a minimum of two significant grant applications annually.
- Secure funding for at least one major project within a two-year timeframe.
- Contribute to the creation of a standardized training curriculum for TMS nurses and technicians.
- Assist in developing a standardized data collection protocol for all clinical treatments related to interventional psychiatry at the Centre for Interventional Psychiatry (CIP).
- Manage and oversee the general operations of CIP research projects.
- Perform literature reviews, use statistical software (e.g., SPSS) for data analysis, help maintain the trial database, and aid in the preparation of both progress and final project reports.
- Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct and record-keeping according to established policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator (PI).
Qualifications
The applicant should:
- Have a first degree with good results or holds a Master’s degree in nursing/medicine or related disciplines; preferably with some experience in research;
- Be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail; and
- Have knowledge of computer applications, e.g. SPSS, MS office, PowerPoint.
- Have experience in TMS and fMRI
Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
