The Commercial Head is responsible for driving overall business performance across multiple brands within the retail portfolio in Singapore. This role combines the strategic oversight of both marketing and merchandising functions to ensure that brand presence, sales, and profitability are maximized. The Commercial Head will develop and execute effective commercial strategies, ensuring that marketing efforts align with business objectives and that the right products are available at the right time, place, and price to meet customer demands.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement comprehensive commercial strategies that integrate marketing and merchandising efforts across multiple brands to drive growth, enhance brand equity, and achieve business objectives.
Marketing Management:
- Lead the development and execution of marketing strategies tailored to the unique needs of each brand and market, ensuring consistent brand messaging across all channels.
- Oversee the creation and management of annual marketing plans and budgets, utilizing market research and brand health insights to adjust strategies as needed.
Monitor brand health metrics such as awareness, consideration, loyalty, and advocacy, and develop plans to address any gaps or opportunities.
- Spearhead the introduction and adoption of new marketing technologies and trends to maintain competitive advantage.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including merchandizing, to ensure marketing efforts align with overall business objectives.
Merchandising Management:
- Ensure the availability of the right products at the right time, price, and location to meet customer demand and maximize sales.
- Develop and manage the Merchandise Plan/OTB budget, and oversee category assortment, pricing, margin structure, and distribution plans.
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitive landscape to inform in-season adjustments and future planning.
- Ensure seamless coordination from product buying to selling, managing the relationship with brand principals to optimize product performance.
Team Leadership:
- Provide leadership and direction to both marketing and merchandising teams, setting clear goals and expectations while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Mentor and develop team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to achieve their KPIs and contribute to the company’s success.
- Maintain productive working relationships with brand principals and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment on brand and product strategies.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Management, Economics, Merchandising, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years of combined experience in marketing and merchandising, with a strong focus on brand management, commercial strategy, and retail operations.
- Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing substantial budgets.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Experience in managing and mentoring teams, with a track record of developing talent.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong focus on results.
- Deep understanding of the retail industry and customer-centric business models.
