The Role - maternity cover (January - July 2025)

Tanglin Infant School is seeking to appoint experienced Infant teachers. Recent experience in teaching the Early Years Foundation Stage or Key Stage 1 curriculum, and proficiency in using technology as a learning tool, are essential. The successful applicant will be joining a very dedicated team of teachers. The ability to work as part of a team is an important element of the role.

The appointee will be engaged in teaching a designated class, contributing to school/curriculum development and participating in the extra-curricular life of the school.

The role reports to the Head of Infant School through the Head of Year.


Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Manage an effective, orderly and safe learning environment.
  • Plan and deliver a personalised curriculum for the class, and in accordance with the agreed principles and practice of timetabling of the year group and the school; differentiate that delivery to meet the needs of individuals, both pastorally and academically.
  • Keep detailed records of plans, and of the achievements of individual children.
  • Develop, in conjunction with the year group, standardised forms of assessment and record keeping.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of curricular and other initiatives, according to the
  • school’s calendar.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of the curriculum by being a member of a vertical curriculum team across the Early Years Foundation Stage, and Key Stages 1 and 2.
  • Fulfil an active supervision role during lunches and break times.
  • Follow the school’s policies and procedures with regard to discipline and behaviour, dailyroutines, duties, home learning, leave of absence, and outdoor education, as laid down in the Staff Handbook.
  • Participate in the Review and Development process to personalise professional learning, and maintain an accurate and up-to-date record.
  • Take part in relevant research and development activities to enhance ongoing professional skills, knowledge and understanding, including professional reflection and evaluation, and maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of that professional development.
  • As part of Tanglin’s commitment to professional development, use 30 minutes of PPA time per term to peer observe colleagues and reflect upon own practice.
  • Support colleagues and TLAs in developing their professional practice within class/unit,
  • and conduct Review and Development and Performance Management with TLAs, according to the school’s scheme.

Safeguarding and Child Welfare

  • Liaise with Learning Support and external agencies to support individual children where needed.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings of a professional nature as and when required.
  • Be responsible for reporting any concerns about a child to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Communication

  • Report to parents in accordance with the school’s reporting policy, as laid down in the Staff Handbook.
  • Contribute to the strengthening of the parent-teacher partnership in individual and whole-school initiatives as and when required.
