Project Engineer

Role Summary

Assist the Project Manager and project team in the planning, budgeting, and execution of major projects for the Borr Drilling fleet with particular focus on the technical aspects of the project.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and support the projects team as directed e.g.
  • Liaise with vendors/OEM’s on technical issues and parts/equipment deliveries.
  • Negotiate with vendors/OEM’s on technically acceptable commercial solutions related to cost and time efficient project execution.
  • Liaise directly with vendors and Borr Supply Chain to ensure close monitoring and scheduling of parts/equipment deliveries to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Filing of technical documentation pre and post project.
  • Visit rigs to complete surveys and gather information relevant to the project planning & execution, either alone or accompanying third party Surveyors/Engineers.
  • Follow-up with rig crews post-project to ensure requisite actions are completed and correctly documented.
  • Act as the lead technical advisor for project related work scopes.
  • Assist the Marketing department with tenders and other technical/project information as required.
  • Liaise directly with rig teams, vendors, OEMs, class and other external parties as required to adequately plan, budget and execute projects in the most efficient manner in accordance with Borr policies and industry best practice.
  • Advise and assist in the development of Borr’s project and technical policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all projects are planned and executed in accordance with Borr’s policies and procedures.
  • Advise and assist operational teams in the planning and execution of major projects.

Quality, Health, Safety & Environment

  • Abide by and promote Borr Drilling Life Saving Rules.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, regulations, and standards established by the organization and relevant authorities.
  • You have the responsibility and obligation to “stop” any task, condition or behaviour that appears to be unsafe.
  • Participate in QHSE training and awareness programs provided by the organization.
  • Actively identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or behaviours in compliance with the Behavioural Based Safety Program.
  • Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures and protocols to respond effectively in case of emergencies such as fires, spills, or medical emergencies.
  • Promptly report any accidents, incidents, occupational illnesses and near misses to your Line Manager.
  • Use provided plant, machinery and work equipment (including PPE) correctly and in accordance with established procedures, training or instruction provided by the organization. Report any defects or issues with the equipment to your Line Manager.
  • Minimize your environmental impact by following correct waste disposal procedures, conserving resources, and supporting environmental sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Engineering/technical degree or equivalent experience/qualification (HND/HNC equivalent may also be acceptable).
  • Ability to work under pressure on various different tasks to tight timelines.
  • High levels of self-motivation with willingness to work outside of normal working hours.

Experience

  • Preferable to have oil and gas or marine industry experience in an engineering/technical capacity, ideally with projects.
  • Knowledge and experience of SPS projects is preferable, together with a good grasp of Classification Society rules and other regulatory requirements.

Nature and Scope

  • Communicate with project teams, rig teams and key internal support functions to plan, manage, and execute rig stacking and re-activation activity.
  • Coordinate with vendors, OEM’s, customers, class, flag, and regulatory bodies.
  • Focal point for technical aspects of projects, determining scopes and ensuring compliance with relevant internal procedures and external regulatory requirements/industry best practice.
  • Problem solve challenges as they arise with the ability to simplify complex problems, make rational decisions, and/or present recommendations.
  • Self-driven with the capacity to work with limited supervision in both office based and an offshore environment.
  • Regular travel to rig locations expected as well as on-site project management when required, often at short notice.
