The Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing all administrative and operational duties required for the Singapore Symphony Chorus, Youth, Children’s Choir, and the Children’s Choir training wing ensembles to function throughout the season from recruitment, programming, staffing, planning, auditioning, rehearsing and performing. This position also works closely with the choral artistic leaders (Choral Director, Choirmaster & Assistant Choral Conductor), oversees the management of choral instructors, fellows, accompanists, and assistants, and leads overall communication with members and stakeholders.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administration. Create and maintain the year-round schedule of recruitment, auditions, enrollment, rehearsals, concerts, ad-hoc performances, and reviews in cooperation with the choral artistic team
  • Oversee the general administration, and day-to-day running of the three performing choirs and the children’s choir training wing ensembles, including fee collections, preparing/submitting monthly payroll for artistic/support personnel, and corresponding with members and parents on key matters when required
  • Programming. Participate in artistic planning meetings, co-develop programmes/opportunities aligned with choral artistic developmental and organizational needs, as well as identify new choral commissions, in consultation with the choral artistic heads
  • Concert/Event Production. Oversee/Support planning and execution of choral-led and collaborative projects
  • Attend rehearsals and concerts regularly
  • Budgeting. Prepare, manage, and monitor choral budgets
  • Staffing. Engage, issue contracts for, and manage chorus staff including the children’s choir’s choral instructors, choral fellows, accompanists, and assistants as required
  • Supervise and support the development of the Senior Executive
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree and above with a minimum of 5 years of working experience preferably for a performing arts organization or in the related field, in a supervisory role
  • Ability and flexibility to work nights and weekends
  • Excellent communication and diplomacy skills; ability to communicate with a wide range of age groups and different personalities
  • Resilient individual with positive energy and exceptional organizational and planning skills
  • Takes a collaborative approach to working with colleagues
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required
  • While having formal music qualifications is not a pre-requisite, training, and experience in performance, music education, or community arts is a plus.
