- Inspect, diagnose, and repair trucks, container-handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, cranes), and other heavy vehicles.
- Handle mechanical systems, including engines, hydraulic systems, braking systems, and electrical components.
- Perform repairs and replacements for transmission systems, differentials, gearboxes, and suspension systems on a variety of heavy vehicles.
- Lead and supervise a team of mechanics and technicians specialized in different vehicle systems.
- Plan, assign, and prioritize tasks for the repair and servicing of trucks, trailers, cranes, forklifts, and container-handling machinery.
- Ensure that the workshop is well-equipped with the necessary tools and parts to perform maintenance efficiently.
- Oversee maintenance of container-handling equipment, including container lifts, reach stackers, and straddle carriers.
- Provide technical expertise and solutions for issues specific to container-handling machinery, such as hydraulics and lifting mechanisms.
- Develop preventative maintenance schedules for cranes and lifting equipment to minimize downtime and ensure safety compliance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the engine, transmission, suspension, and braking systems of heavy vehicles and trucks.
- Ensure the integrity of the vehicles' load-bearing components for transporting containers.
- Diagnose and repair faults in container vehicles used for port, dock, or freight yard operations.
- Create and implement preventative maintenance programs for trucks, cranes, trailers, and other heavy equipment.
- Conduct routine checks on vehicle fluids, engine performance, and mechanical systems.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and servicing intervals.
- Manage inventory and procurement of parts, materials, and equipment necessary for servicing container vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Maintain an efficient parts and tools management system, minimizing delays caused by supply shortages.
- Coordinate with vendors for ordering specialized parts for both trucks and container-handling equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and mechanical standards for both truck and container handling operations.
- Oversee the use of safety gear, proper machine handling, and adherence to protocols related to lifting and handling heavy loads.
- Conduct safety training for mechanics and technicians working on both trucks and heavy container-handling machinery.
- Maintain comprehensive records of vehicle inspections, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
- Track vehicle and machinery performance, analyzing data to recommend improvements in efficiency and reliability.
- Provide regular reports to management on repair activities, breakdowns, and maintenance costs.
- Develop and manage the budget for workshop operations, including labor, parts, and equipment.
- Optimize cost-effective strategies for repair and maintenance services, minimizing operational expenses.
- Monitor resource utilization and ensure the workshop operates within the allocated budget.
