Role Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and compliance of all facility equipment within a food innovation lab. This role is crucial in maintaining a high standard of operational continuity, safety, and food hygiene by performing regular maintenance, addressing repair needs, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. The Maintenance Technician will also contribute to the continuous improvement of facility operations and ensure compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Facility Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the day-to-day operational condition of all facility equipment, proactively identifying and addressing issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Maintenance Execution and Reporting: Carry out all facility maintenance tasks according to the maintenance schedule and guidelines. Submit detailed reports based on the facility maintenance database, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of all work performed.
- Coordination with Contractors: Liaise with and coordinate main contractors for repair and planned maintenance jobs. Ensure that all requested maintenance tasks are completed to the required standards and within agreed timelines.
- Feedback and Recommendations: Provide feedback and share recommendations with the Facility Operations Lead regarding potential improvements in operation and maintenance processes from a technical and operational perspective.
- Preventive Maintenance Supervision: Inspect, monitor, and supervise all preventive maintenance activities and ad-hoc work. Ensure that all tasks are carried out efficiently and meet established quality standards.
- Facility Maintenance Standards: Revise and update facility maintenance standards as needed. Share updates with team members to enhance knowledge and ensure consistency in documentation and procedures.
- EHS & Food Safety Compliance: Follow up on and implement plans/actions related to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and food safety activities, as necessary. Ensure that all maintenance work complies with company policies, certified standards, and government regulations.
- Hygiene Protocols: Maintain personal hygiene and adhere to strict hygiene protocols at all times to prevent contamination in the facility.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance work is performed safely, adhering to food safety standards, and in compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
- Perform any other tasks as required by the Facility department or organization to support the smooth operation of the facility
Know-how and Competency Requirements
Minimum Relevant Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in maintenance within a food processing or technology environment.
- Strong analytical and machine maintenance skills.
- Experience in operating a Steam Boiler will be a plus.
- Experience in using Building Management Systems (BMS)/Building Automation Systems (BAS) and AutoCAD will be advantageous.
Minimum Academic Requirement:
- Diploma, Higher NITEC, or NITEC in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facility Management.

- Electrical Diagram Proficiency: Understanding of Single Line Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, and Schematic Diagrams to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues.
- Specialized Equipment Operation: Experience with Working at Heights (WaH), Scissor Lifts, and Boiler Attendance (1/2) will be a plus.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to apply this knowledge to maintain and improve facility equipment.
