Responsibilities :
Develop Maintenance and Repair Strategies: Establish a long-term strategy for truck and container repairs, ensuring alignment with business goals and client requirements.
Adoption of New Technologies: Identify and implement advanced diagnostic tools, repair technologies, and software that improve efficiency in servicing heavy vehicles.
Sustainability Initiatives: Implement strategies for adopting eco-friendly technologies (such as electric or hybrid vehicle servicing) as they become more prevalent in the industry.
Oversee Technicians and Mechanics: Lead teams of specialized heavy vehicle mechanics and technicians, ensuring they have the skills, tools, and resources to perform their jobs efficiently.
Training and Development: Continuously train the technical staff on new technologies, vehicle models, compliance, and safety regulations specific to trucks and containers.
Promote Safety Standards: Lead safety training programs, making sure the team adheres to heavy-duty vehicle safety protocols.
Advanced Diagnostics: Implement and manage advanced diagnostic equipment to accurately detect issues in trucks and containers, including those related to engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, and hydraulics.
Maintenance Scheduling: Oversee the creation of preventive maintenance schedules for trucks and containers to reduce downtime and extend vehicle life.
Oversee Complex Repairs: Ensure complex engine rebuilds, transmission overhauls, and structural repairs on containers are performed to the highest standards.
Workshop Equipment: Ensure the workshop is equipped with state-of-the-art tools, hoists, and technology required for servicing large trucks and containers (e.g., heavy-duty lifts, computerized alignment tools, etc.).
Fleet Management Software: Oversee the use of fleet management systems to track repairs, parts inventory, vehicle histories, and performance metrics.
Efficient Workflows: Design workshop layouts and processes to maximize workflow efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and improve repair times.
Sourcing Heavy-Duty Equipment: Work with suppliers to source parts and equipment for heavy-duty vehicles, negotiating contracts for the best pricing and quality.
Supply Chain Management: Ensure a streamlined supply chain for parts to avoid delays in repair times due to missing components.
Tool and Software Vendor Relationships: Manage relationships with diagnostic tool suppliers and software vendors to ensure the workshop is equipped with the latest technology.
Budgeting for Workshop Tools and Technology: Create and manage budgets for maintaining and upgrading workshop tools, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising on quality.
Reducing Downtime: Implement strategies to reduce vehicle downtime by optimizing workflows, streamlining part deliveries, and ensuring mechanics are fully equipped.
Performance Metrics: Track and analyze key performance metrics such as repair time, technician productivity, and customer satisfaction, and make adjustments to improve performance.
Environmental Standards: Ensure that the workshop complies with environmental regulations, especially regarding waste disposal (e.g., oil, batteries, and other hazardous materials from trucks).
Energy Efficiency: Explore energy-efficient practices in the workshop, such as using solar energy or optimizing power usage with efficient equipment.
