Specialist, Workforce Development

THE ROLE:

The role of the Workforce Development (WFD) Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating programs aimed at enhancing the skills and competencies of the workforce to meet organizational goals and industry demands. The ideal candidate will have a passion for workforce development, strong project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders. The WFD Specialist will also support to lead SEMI’s University Connections initiative to increase industry visibility and to deepen the talent pipeline for the semiconductor industry and electronic manufacturing supply chain.

This position reports directly to the Program Development -Workforce & Talent Development SEMI SEA Office.


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate is assessing workforce skills gaps and training needs within the semiconductor industry. S/he adapts quickly to changing environments, has an extreme customer focus mindset, and enjoys working collaboratively on cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will also understand how to market, communicate, and present effectively to recruit and captivate audiences.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

· University Connections Initiative:

o Host and/or support the coordination of career fairs; industry recruitment events, and University Visits to increase visibility and impact for SEMI’s workforce development initiative

o Present and/or represent SEMI at career fairs, seminars, and events

o Work closely with the department team to coordinate the Professional Development Seminars and SEMI High Tech U to increase relationships between universities and industry.

· Program Development:

o Assess workforce skills gaps and training needs within the organization and industry.

o Design and develop training programs, workshops, and curricula tailored to meet identified needs.

o Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to create effective workforce development initiatives.

· Stakeholder Engagement:

o Build and maintain relationships with government agencies and educational institutions to support workforce development efforts.

o Stay informed about workforce development policies, funding opportunities, and best practices.

o Assist in the writing and administration of grant proposals to secure funding for workforce initiatives


WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:

· You are a key contributor to SEMI’s workforce development initiative

· You increase visibility for SEMI’s workforce development activities (university recruiting program)

· You provide solutions to customers (internally and externally) in a timely manner


CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS:

· Positive, customer service-oriented attitude

· Strong interpersonal and presentation skills

· Ability to learn and administer new technology platforms

· Great attention to detail


FOUNDATIONAL KNOWLEDGE OR PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

· B.S. in Business Administration, Human Resources, OR equivalent experience

· 2+ years of talent acquisition, workforce development, and/or program management experience

· Experience in hosting and/or supporting a career fair, mentoring program, and/or industry image campaign

· Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Ex: Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

· Knowledge of University systems and the semiconductor industry is a plus!
