Senior Executive (Digitalisation & Decarbonisation)

Job Description

The incumbent will play an important role in the Association’s digitalisation & decarbonisation engagement as well as its committee activities to elevate the Association’s work and profile as the collective voice of the shipping industry, promoting the interests of its members and enhancing the competitiveness of Singapore as an International Maritime Centre.

The Role

This role calls for an individual who is passionate about digitalisation in the transformation and operation of businesses as well as decarbonisation. The role also requires you to engage and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to:

  • Amplify the Association’s activities across different platforms such as the website, workshops, and committees;
  • Execute committees and programmes to engage members and key maritime stakeholders, and
  • Maintain up-to-date maritime industry digitalisation & decarbonisation information for effective outreach.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Assists in the preparation of all documents (agendas, Note Verbales, invitation letters, memoranda, list of participants and reports), including preparation of folders for meetings organized by the association;
  • Provides secretarial support to the Executive, Technical Director, and secretariat(s) under his/her charge
  • Work with internal stakeholders to co-lead the efforts of the SSA Secretariat team to strategise advocacy at the association level, and formulate and drive action plans toward national and international outcomes
  • Responsible for administering committee activities such as the Digital Transformation c ommittees and its corresponding sub-committees e.g. plan and conduct meetings quarterly, perform research on topics important to the industry, engage experts to share knowledge, and respond to committee members inquiries & follow-ups
  • Identifies and extracts information from various sources and prepares briefing notes presentation materials, position papers and reports
  • Co-ordinate/organise Digitalisation & Decarbonisation activities with SMEs such as talks, brainstorming activities, members surveys, training, workshops, and any other activities assigned;
  • Assist to align and drive SMEs Digitalisation & Decarbonisation to key stakeholders:

Ø Create awareness of programmes and schemes

Ø Promote the adoption of digitalisation and decarbonisation initiatives

  • Assist with any other administrative or ad hoc duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Education: A-Level, Degree or equivalentqualifications required (e.g., Bachelor’s in Business or Engineering, etc.)
  • Experience: Years of relevant experience and specific sectors or skills (e.g., 3+ years in project management).
  • Skills: Key technical skills, software proficiency, languages, and any necessary certifications.Having creativity, inquisitiveness and an open mind to try new ways will be favourable. With good written and verbal communication as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Soft Skills:Communication, teamwork, problem-solving, etc
  • Must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • The ideal candidate should possess the following or have a desire to further develop these skills.

Operational Effectiveness:

  • Possesses basic knowledge of organizational policies and procedures relating to the position and applies them consistently in work tasks. In addition, strives to keep job knowledge up-to-date through self-directed study and other means of learning
  • Demonstrates good knowledge of IT and digital transformation subjects (such as big data and platforms, cloud computing, connectivity, and system interoperability) and applies it in work assignments
  • Independently plan and run workshops and focus workgroups
  • Computer literate with practical experience with Windows applications and other office software packages, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI etc
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work possibly under time constraints through efficient organization and prioritization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Managing Documents, Correspondence and Reports:

  • Shows sound grasp of grammar, spelling and structure in the required language;
  • Ability to produce accurate and well-documented records conforming to the required standard
  • Competency in reviewing technical reports and policies from local and international partners
  • Social media competency is essential and a background in project management will be an added advantage

Planning, Organizing and Multi-Tasking:

  • Organizes workload while remaining aware of changing priorities and competing deadlines
  • Ability to take decisions as necessary for the execution of assignments

As with all roles within the Association, the candidate is expected to have a hands-on attitude, and no tasks too small for them to take on. An attitude towards picking up skills and experience beyond the current job description will help the individual build their experience and exposure, not only to the various aspects of the Association work but also to one of Singapore’s most vital economic sectors.
