Position Overview:
We are seeking talented and passionate individuals to join our team as Wagashi Chefs or Shaved Ice Chefs. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing traditional Japanese sweets and a strong understanding of Wagashi techniques and ingredients. However, if you are enthusiastic about Japanese cuisine but lack experience, we welcome your application and will provide training in the necessary techniques. This role involves crafting high-quality Wagashi and shaved ice, ensuring exceptional taste and presentation, and contributing to our commitment to delivering an authentic Japanese dessert experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Precisely prepare and present a variety of traditional Japanese sweets (Wagashi) and shaved ice.
- Follow recipes and techniques to maintain consistent high-quality results.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop new Wagashi recipes and seasonal offerings.
- Manage inventory and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
- Stay updated on trends and techniques in Wagashi and shaved ice preparation.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a Wagashi Chef or in a similar role specializing in Japanese sweets, or a strong passion for Japanese desserts.
- Deep understanding of traditional Wagashi ingredients, techniques, and presentation.
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating beautiful and delicious desserts.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Good service experience or strong service awareness.
- Food Safety Level 1 certification (SFA).
- Fluent in Mandarin; Japanese language skills are a plus.
