Migration of 10 VMs from CentOS 7 to Oracle Linux v8
a) Review current infrastructure and services hosted on the VMs.
b) Identify servers and assess their current status.
c) Confirm the list of servers requiring migration.
d) Take a full backup of each VM, including configurations and data.
e) Verify that backups are complete and stored securely.
f) Prepare Oracle Linux v8 images and repositories.
g) Ensure all necessary dependencies and software packages are available for the migration.
h) Develop a detailed migration plan, including timelines, resource allocation, and contingency plans
i) Deliverable:
1 Complete Backup of VMs
2 Oracle Linux v8 images and all necessary dependencies and software packages is prepared and available.
3 Approved migration Plan Document.
2B Migration Execution & Verification
a) Begin the migration process for each VM following the prepared plan.
b) Ensure the proper migration of services such as MySQL, DHCP, DNS, SMTP, Web Services, etc.
c) Verify the integrity of data and configurations.
d) Troubleshoot and resolve issues when necessary
e) Reconfigure and optimize the services on Oracle Linux v8.
f )Conduct functional testing for all critical services (MySQL,
DHCP, DNS, SMTP, Web Services, etc.).
g) Check logs and monitor performance metrics to ensure stability.
h) Validate network configurations and connectivity.
i) Confirm that the VMs are operating as expected in the new environment.
j) Develop VM User Acceptance Test (UAT) plan
k) Conduct VM UAT.
l) Deliverable:
1 Completed migration of the VMs in stages according to the approved Migration Plan
2 Approved VM User Acceptance Test (UAT) plan Document.
3 Completed VM UAT.
