Role Overview:
The Lead EIT (Electrical, Instrumentation & Telecommunications) Engineer will be responsible for leading the engineering, design, and integration of electrical, instrumentation, and telecommunications systems for FPSO projects. The role requires in-depth knowledge of electrical and control systems for floating offshore platforms and managing a multidisciplinary engineering team. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, engineering, and installation of EIT systems for FPSO projects, ensuring all deliverables meet project deadlines and quality requirements.
- Oversee the preparation and review of electrical, instrumentation, and telecommunications design documentation, including specifications, data sheets, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Piping, Structural, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of EIT systems.
- Ensure that the design and construction activities comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations such as IEC, NEC, ATEX, and API.
- Perform electrical load calculations, cable sizing, and system analysis to ensure optimal design performance.
- Lead risk assessments, HAZOP, and HAZID reviews related to EIT systems.
- Interface with procurement and subcontracting teams to manage EIT-related equipment and material sourcing.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
- Collaborate with clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies to address project requirements, technical issues, and approvals.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources related to EIT engineering.
- Conduct site surveys, FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), and provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and startup phases.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards across all project phases.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in EIT engineering within the oil and gas industry, with at least 5 years of experience in FPSO projects.
- Strong understanding of FPSO electrical and instrumentation systems, including power distribution, control systems, hazardous area classifications, and telecommunications.
- Proficiency in using design tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD, SmartPlant, or similar.
- Familiarity with international standards like IEC, NEC, ATEX, and API.
- Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with a track record of successful project delivery.
- Ability to work in offshore environments and travel to project sites as required.
