Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager with a strong background in chemical process safety to oversee and improve our plant's safety operations. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of hands-on experience in process safety management, conducting HAZOP studies, safety audits, and gap analysis in the process industry, particularly in chemical processing. This is a critical role requiring regular plant visits and a deep understanding of chemical process safety, not construction safety. Candidates with experience in the oil and gas or refinery sectors are highly preferred.
- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive health and safety programs specific to chemical process safety.
- Conduct HAZOP studies, safety audits, risk assessments, and gap analyses to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
- Visit the plant regularly to monitor safety procedures, conduct risk evaluations, and implement safety improvements.
- Oversee process safety management (PSM) systems, ensuring all chemical processes comply with health and safety guidelines.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership during incident investigations and ensure that root cause analyses are conducted.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to address and mitigate safety risks in the chemical processing environment.
- Develop and lead safety training programs tailored to plant personnel to promote safety culture within the organization.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with local, national, and global safety standards.
- Prepare and present detailed safety reports and recommendations to upper management.
- Manage the preparation for and response to internal and external audits.
The Successful Applicant
- At least 10 years of experience in health and safety programs specific to chemical process safety.
- Strong background in chemical processing required.
- Experience from oil and gas, or refinery industry is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical process safety (PSM) and risk management in a plant environment.
- Proven track record in successfully conducting HAZOP studies and safety audits.
- Excellent knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
