Job Description
The Singapore Office of Jones Day seeks an associate to join its Energy Practice to advise on a range of international energy, oil and gas, utilities and infrastructure projects across the Asia Pacific region.
We advise a range of clients, including private equity and fund investors, project sponsors/developers, and traders, on energy and infrastructure-related joint venture and project development and trading transactions across the full energy value chain, with a particular focus on LNG project development (including LNG marketing) and the energy transition, including hydrogen, carbon capture and storage as well as the decommissioning of offshore E&P assets.
We are looking for an associate who has broad experience advising on project development and cross-border energy-related M&A transactions in Singapore and the region, who is excited to contribute to international client teams, is focused and committed to tackling challenging cross-border legal work, and is motivated to be a resource for others.
Job Requirements
- 3 - 5 years’ of post-qualification law firm experience with an energy/infra projects background including representing private equity and fund investors, project sponsors/developers and/or traders
- Admission to the bar in Singapore, England & Wales, US or Australia required
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- Superior academic background and results
- Willingness to work with and contribute to various teams
- Experience in leading / managing projects
- Motivated to support on BD (including engaging in industry groups)
- Located in Singapore; international travelling may be required to attend client meetings in other countries
- Experience in some or all of the following:
o Upstream oil and gas
o LNG project development (including LNG offtake agreements and LNG shipping)
o VPPAs/CPPAs, renewable projects, structured carbon transactions (including RECS and/or carbon intensity attributes)
o CCUS project development
o Hydrogen/ammonia project development (including H2/NH3 offtake structuring)
o Broad infrastructure/construction JV experience (with some EPC exposure)
