RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the internal auditing activity of an assigned location by developing a comprehensive, practical programme of audit coverage for BW Group including but not limited to offices/ functions located in Singapore, Oslo, Manila, Mumbai, Copenhagen, Houston and Beijing; and accomplishing the programme in accordance with acceptable audit standards and stipulated schedules whilst maintaining effective working relations with executive and operating management.

• Develop a comprehensive programme of audit scope, objectives, and audit procedures for the assigned audit project.
• Identify activities subject to audit coverage, evaluate their significance, and assess the degree of risk inherent in the activity.
• Responsible for detailed transaction testing, detection of unauthorized transactions and/ or irregularity and presentation of findings to Management.
• Review the means of safeguarding assets and as appropriate, verifying the existence of such assets.
• Collaborate with the Group's external auditors to achieve synergies and cost efficiencies.
• Provide reports to management within the assigned project concerning coverage and the results of the audit activity.
• Mentor and coach team members when leading audit projects.
• Establish and monitor accomplishment of objectives intended to increase department's effectiveness to value-add to Management.
• Actively participate and engage in the process for the continuous improvement of departmental procedures through QMS.

• A degree in Accounting/ Finance/ Business or related field.
• Holds recognised professional accounting or auditing qualification (CIA / CPA / CA Singapore).
• Minimum 6 years work experience in audit (internal or external). Relevant shipping experience is preferred but not essential.
• Strong in report-writing and preparing presentations to Management.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Meticulous with a keen eye for detail.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of employees.
• Strong planning and organisational skills for effective execution of projects.
• Knowledge of IT/ Information Systems audits or data analytics will be an advantage.
• Ability to travel (~20%).

Role
As member of the worldwide Corporate Audit team - APAC region, the role is to:

Lead a team, identify and assess risk areas in the operations and provide advice to assist management in the improvement of risk management practices and internal controls to foster and facilitate the achievement of the corporate objectives.

Job responsibilities:

• Conduct regular audit reviews in the APAC region, based on the yearly audit plan defined by Management.
• These activities include: 1. Audit planning and risk control matrix preparation;
  2. Fieldwork preparation and execution;
  3. Discussing preliminary findings / recommendations with auditees and related Management;
  4. Preparing the audit report and discussing it with CA Management as part of the validation process;
  5. Following-up on the timely and adequate implementation of actions recommended 6. Carry out assigned SOX testing activities 7. Contribute to the improvement and the development of best practices for the Corporate Audit function.

• Bachelor degree in accounting , finance, economics or engineering and business administration;

Conduct operational and financial audit review in the business units within the Group.
Conduct review for compliance with policies, procedures and accounting standards. Ensure that the companies comply with Group policies and procedures.
Perform data analytics and utilize it as part of the audit activities and monitoring.
Perform process risk analysis, walkthroughs and mapping/ flowcharting of key processes.
Identify areas of weaknesses or improvement opportunities, relevant risks and implications, and propose recommendations to improve controls.
Prepare formal written reports on audit findings and recommendations.

Execute and complete all audits in accordance with department's standards and KPls

Performs special reviews as requested by senior management and Board of Directors
Support the Internal Auditor Team in preparing presentations, updates for Senior Management and other related research.

EDUCATION ​Degree or professional certification (eg. CA, CPA, ACCA) - in accountancy, finance or law.
Candidate with certification such as CFE, CISA, CIA would be advantageous.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 4-5 years of working experience in internal/ external audit. Experience in process improvement and/or risk management will be a bonus.
Strong in MS Office suite (EXCEL skills a must). The ability to leverage Data Analytics [e.g., independently create, analyze and perform repetitive analytics (pivot tables, analytical queries/routines, and dashboards e.g., Power BI)].
Experience in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is a must. Able to collect, collate information from various system and application.
Extensive working knowledge and experience of auditing and possesses a growth mindset and curiosity to learn. The preferred candidate should also be able to constructively challenge the auditees with his/her knowledge of audit processes, business context, and strong communication skills at all levels in the organization.
Ability to navigate through ambiguity and to take charge, confidence to interact with all management levels, set objectives and drive results, and accept ownership and accountability of the audit.
Strong written and spoken communication skills, proficient in presentation.
Knowledge of current best practices, governance, risk management and compliance.
Experience in the risk management and control in a commodity trading environment will be a bonus.

Responsibilities:

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of operations, processes, and business objectives and utilize that knowledge on engagement.
• Lead and manage fieldwork on project sites including liaising with other departments to ensure the smooth delivery of the audit process.

About this role:

The audit director as an individual contributor provides strategic and operational leadership for their respective audit teams leading to the delivery of engagements in their risk coverage areas. Responsible to support RHIA to cultivate and manage relationships with senior collaborators in their business and/or functional areas leading to enhanced awareness of strategic priorities, key risks and deeper business knowledge. Use data to support IA processes, which may include working with internal and external partners to ensure greater insight and valued outcome.

Key Responsibilities:

· Ensure high quality audit and advisory engagements, in collaboration with the engagement clients, to foster simplification and enterprise approach.

· Actively support RHIA in managing relationships with business, functional, and corporate functions collaborators (global, regional, and/or local). This includes support in selection, training, and development of auditors by supporting and coaching during engagements and giving regular feedback.

· Supervise audit and advisory plans from preparation to delivery ensuring proper execution and reporting of results in line with Novartis IA methodologies and standards.

· Lead and deliver complex engagements including those without pre-defined frameworks.

· Manage short- and long-term audit planning, resource requirements, and resource allocation corresponding to identified risks and priorities.

· Build the preparation of a comprehensive risk assessment for the teams that serves as a basis for future assurance plans.

· Provide thought leadership in assigned areas of subject matter expertise and contributing to innovative approaches including advanced analytics.

· Ensure that audit and advisory methodology is adhered to, and quality standards are met.

· Ensure respective audit team execution supports simplification of key business processes aligned with the company’s aspirations.

· Support RHIA in highlighting risks, key insights, and trends to senior ECN/ACC reporting.

· Participate in Novartis IA projects / initiatives when needed.

· Support Global Security with specific Speak Up cases that require IA expertise.

· Using advanced analytics and applying available data to enhance risk assessment, audit execution, insight sharing, and business partnering.

Requirements

Essential Requirements:

· University degree (Finance, Engineering, Sciences or other relevant qualification) or equivalent required. Certified Internal Auditor, CA, MBA, PhD or equivalent are considered a plus.

· Proficient in English both written and spoken, excellent communication skills. Other languages are a plus.

· At least 7 + years of relevant business and/or functional experience. Experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company is a plus.

· Business, functional, and/or operational competence in related functions understanding company strategy and main risks

· Experience working in a matrix organization and building close relationships with 2nd line assurance/risk functions

· Strong interpersonal, organizational and project management skills and resilience to meet multiple priorities and deadlines.
