SCHOLAR DEVELOPMENT AND CARE LEAD

=DREAMS (Singapore) Limited is a first-of-its-kind secular, co-ed weekday residential model that provides after-school academic and holistic support to promising and aspiring children from low-income households. She aims to empower them to dream of a future where they are not limited by family circumstances.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Scholar Development and Care Lead. This individual will be responsible for =Dreams daily running, staff’s development, and scholar’s success. The successful candidate will have experience managing a diverse team and was involved in schools or residential leadership roles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Scholar Development and Care policies and implementation

• Oversee the residential living and daily routines of the scholars
• Implement and ensure compliance with policies to ensure the development and care of all scholars
• Be responsible for the quality and achievement of Scholars’ individualised care plan
• Ensure scholars are meeting their goals, following the Scholar’s Handbook and are fairly reviewed for disciplinary misdemeanours
• Able to assess for risks, needs and facilitate case conferences with multiple stakeholders including families and school / social worker / counsellor
• Plan, establish systems and maintain collaborative partnerships with the scholars’ families, schools and social workers / counsellors as well as other programme partners
• Prevents and manages crisis, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for all scholars
• Conduct monitoring and evaluation annually
• Contribute to policy-making by providing feedback to Executive Director

Capacity building and staff management

• Formulate training and development priorities for team in alignment with organisational’s vision and mission
• Organise shift/work duty rotation according to residential and programme needs
• Recruit, appraise, coach and regularly supervise residential staff and Development and Care Executives
• Hold staff accountable to organisational mission and policies

Organisational leadership

• Maintain accurate and timely records
• Produce reports to demonstrate effectiveness and outcomes of department
• Manage allocated budget in alignment with financial policies
• Support Executive Director and lead =Dreams programmes and other organisational activities such as donor visits, fundraising, or open houses
• Collaborate closely with other Leads, Executive Director and Board of Directors to ensure success as a team

QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma or degree in any fields
• 8-10 years of experience in developing youths in school and/or residential settings, with at least 6 years of experience managing a diverse team
• Patient, committed and value building authentic relationships with diverse communities, families and professionals
• Excellent coaching, communication and leadership skills
• Demonstrates a track record of managing change to achieve goals
• Be a strong team player
• Mature, able to discern and make good judgements
• Experience in interacting with staff across different levels and ability to gain confidence of senior management, schools and community partners
• Has strategic clarity for social impact and outcomes while tactical and able to implement tasks with great success
• Experience of working with children, youth and low-income families is preferred

IN-HOUSE CLEANERS

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as In-House Cleaners. This individual will be responsible in maintaining cleanliness and ensuring a safe and pleasant environment to our scholars, visitors and staffs within our residential campus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintaining Area Cleanliness

• Washing of common toilets, handicap toilets and shower area to maintain hygiene standards for residential and visitors’ use. Ensure all toilets cleaning supplies are adequately stocked.
• Vacuum all carpeted areas.
• Sweeping, dusting and mopping of building floor areas such as MPH, lift lobbies, corridors and staircases.
• Sweeping, mopping, dusting and wiping of all such as office, meeting rooms, dorm rooms, digital room, security office and laundry room to ensure cleanliness.
• Wiping of all lift panels and glass panels within the campus to ensure they are free of dirt and grime.
• Clearing of rubbish from the common rubbish bins and washing the bin centre surrounding area, rubbish bins and bin chambers.
• Sweeping the outdoor area such as carpark and multipurpose sports courts.
• Carry out monthly heavy cleaning tasks (pressure wash jet spray, clean refrigerators, microwaves, fans, etc.) and ad-hoc special projects.
• Cleaning and packing of cleaning equipment for next day usage.
• Water all plants within the campus.

Maintaining MPH, Kitchen and Pantry

• Assist in preparing drinks/snacks in meeting rooms. Ensure all utensils are washed and drinks/snacks are stocked well.
• Ensuring pantry areas and kitchen are clean and kitchenware and dinnerware are wash and properly kept.
• Ensure MPH is clean and free from any unwanted items.
• Wash all dishcloths for kitchen and pantry regularly.
• Ensure all cleaning supplies/chemicals in kitchen and pantry rooms are well stocked.
• Assist to stocktake pantry items and report to Housemaster when stocks are low.

Administration and Operations

• Ensure that the campus is free from any dangerous/hazardous items.
• Monitor scholar’s behaviours and correct them of any wrongdoings. Report any issues/wrongdoings to Housemaster if need be.
• Assist in teaching the scholars on the proper way of managing cleanliness.
• Assist in managing lost & found items.
• Informing any matters/feedbacks to the Housemaster when necessary.
• Report any damages/faults on equipment and facilities to Housemaster.
• Supporting any =Dreams events and other organisational activities
• Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by the Housemaster.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven working experience as a Cleaner.
• Possessed the necessary cleaning certifications.
• Ability to handle heavy equipment and/or operate machinery.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A strong team player.
• Experience working with children, youth and low-income families

In this crucial position, you will play a pivotal role in providing exceptional residential support services for our incoming scholars. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Scholar Routine Care and Support:

• Live in campus with scholars and provide routine care and support, including assistance with meals, waking up, and lights out duties, ensuring scholars' well-being and adherence to daily schedules.
• Coordinate and oversee the security, facilities/ cleaning to upkeep and optimise the residential environment for the scholars

Role Modelling and Wellbeing:

• Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism, responsibility, and respect, while staying vigilant to ensure scholars' safety.
• Offer general emotional support, contributing to a positive living environment for scholars within the residential community, collaborating with other staff members as needed.

Residential Policies and Procedures:

• Communicate, promote, and enforce residential policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and adherence by scholars.

Collaboration and Coordination:

• Collaborate with internal departments, such as Scholar Development Executives, Programme, and security, for a holistic approach to scholar support. Build relationships with external partners to enhance residential support services.

Crisis Management:

• Be prepared to handle emergency situations, including fire safety and first aid, following established protocols to ensure the safety of all residents.

Residential Events and Programming:

• Support residential events, activities, and programs that promote community engagement, cultural exchange, and personal growth among scholars.

Administration/Operations and Facilities Support

• Support in procurement, upkeeping of facilities and administration duties for the daily/event operations of the campus.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma or degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in residential support or student services is a bonus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, connecting effectively with scholars from diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge of youth engagement theory and cultural sensitivity
• Demonstrated crisis management.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
• Mandatory to stay on campus, working rotational night and morning shifts, including Sunday evenings, with Friday early dismissal, as required.

• Effectively plans for interactions and activities as learning opportunities
• Conduct weekly/fortnightly engagements with youths to scaffold towards goals
• Monitor and review quarterly with youth, families, schools and other supporting partners

Family, and partnerships

• Collaborate and coordinate with staff, families, schools and other social partners
• Assess risks/needs and consult the Lead, Social Worker, Counsellor
• Take turns with the team to organise family/community events
• Conduct semesterly conferences / visits to home/schools

Administration and operations

• Document relevant information on the scholar management system in a timely manner
• Support in =Dreams programmes and other organisational activities
• Evening work hours required because the youths only return to campus after school

QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma or degree in any fields
• 3 years of experience in engaging youths and/or experience in coaching and mentoring
