JOB DESCRIPTION

A Learning Area Leader provides strategic leadership and vision for the department to align with the school’s overall mission and values. They lead and mentor the teachers in the department, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth. Learning Area Leaders will teach their subjects or disciplines as required.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the expectations specified in the Subject / Specialist Teacher Job Description, a Learning Area Leader ensures effective pedagogy across the area. They:

• Develop and maintain a collegial and supportive culture in the curriculum area that encourages innovation
• Contribute to the development of whole school strategic planning and lead the vision for the curriculum area
• Develop, curate and communicate the written, taught and assessed curriculum and ensure these comply with awarding bodies practices
• Ensure learners receive timely and meaningful feedback and track progress effectively
• Lead the development of subject area goals and individual goals through the Teacher Professional Enhancement process (TPE)
• Effectively manage delegated budgets and assets and plan to meet curriculum resource needs
• Engage in new staff appointments and recommend appropriate staffing for each course as part of the timetable process
• Support and evaluate quality of teaching in the subject and address professional learning needs
• Use restorative practice to ensure good classroom behaviour
• Establish effective working relationships with colleagues and parents
• Empower children to be reflective and independent learners.
• Participate in all aspects of school life and support holistic education.
• To perform any other duties as assigned by the management, stakeholders and reporting manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• A recognised teaching qualification
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher qualification) in Business Management, Economics, Education, or a related field
• Evidence of continued relevant professional development
• Experience working with bilingual and multilingual learners and learners with diverse needs
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment where the school curriculum focused on PYP, MYP, IGCSE or IBDP
• Coaching accreditation (preferred)
• Previous leadership experience in a school setting is highly desirable

A leader of a curriculum area is an informed, reflective practitioner who uses inquiry-based teaching strategies to create positive learning environments and teams that motivate and challenge all learners to become self-regulated, life-long learners and leaders. A curriculum leader will teach their subjects or disciplines as required.

A TYPICAL DAY

My day starts at 8am, although like my colleagues, I am in earlier to get set up for the day and check in with the team. I have a duty this morning, getting the learners in from the buses from 8am. Today I am teaching 3 out of a possible 5, 60 minute lessons. I often spend time when I am not teaching in the flexible learning spaces to support colleagues and collaborate on how we can create the best learning experiences for our learners. I prioritise building learning-focused relationships with the team to create a mutually supportive environment in line with The Nexus Way. I use a non-contact period today to update the new scheme of work with some changes we agreed to in our last departmental meeting. I also explore how I can better communicate the curriculum to the community through the new learning management system. At lunchtime I go to the cafeteria and eat with colleagues from across the school. After lunch I have another non-contact to follow up on an email from a parent who has some questions about an upcoming assessment. The Head of School pops in to ask about an application I have made for Professional Learning. The teaching day finishes at 3.25pm and today I am running an after-school activity with technical lego in the Makerspace as this is a passion of mine! After I return the learners to the cafeteria to be picked up, I head back to my learning area to collaborate on some planning, complete some marking and check my emails.

We’re looking for a Training Specialist to join our growing CDD Business Training team in Singapore. Your mission will be to support the learning and development of the Due Diligence teams’ operational agents. The main tasks will include ensuring smooth onboarding journey, improving the existing learning programs and content, and creating new learning opportunities based on the objectives of the Due Diligence teams.

The Purpose of the CDD Business Training team in Wise:

The team's main purpose is to solve the operational capacity and knowledge challenges of the respective Due Diligence internal and external teams by supporting their training and development needs. The team is responsible for creating and maintaining the training program for agents taking into consideration their maturity, different regional and outsourced teams' needs.
Also, our CDD Business Training team maintains the respective Confluence pages, ensures logistics are in place for successful delivery of trainings, creates new learning opportunities based on the objectives of the Due Diligence teams, and supports them with regards to knowledge needs and operational questions.

The role as a training specialist gives you the opportunity to:

• Act as a trainer, mentor and guide to agents in multiple locations around the world.
• Create training content for agents.
• Ensure that training materials remain up to date, and all new procedures are added to the team’s Confluence pages.
• Plan and keep track of training and mentoring schedules for agents.
• Facilitate CDD Business onboarding training and refresher sessions to groups of agents.
• Assess information absorption by agents and identify gaps in their knowledge.
• Proactively create new learning opportunities based on the objectives of the Due Diligence teams.
• Work with the Training Team Lead and other stakeholders to ensure the most efficient delivery of training, as well as with:
  • OPS leadership - to understand training needs
  • QA team - to understand pain-points of operational agents
  • KM - to develop user friendly knowledge base / Confluence pages
  • Product - to participate in the improvement projects (tooling, process, etc.)
  • Compliance - to be aware of any regulatory changes
  • Recruitment - to ensure the hiring process is aligned with the role's requirements

About you:

• You possess excellent verbal and written English skills.
• You are punctual, independent, proactive and willing to get things done.

• You have a proven track record of taking ownership and responsibilities as well as being a great team-player.
• You are comfortable handling and organising routine schedules, but you can also be flexible with priorities.

• You have a thorough knowledge of the processes and systems applicable to former KYC/CDD/EDD (now DD and Surveillance).

Nice to have:

• Proven track record of creation of any Wiki pages or LMS (Lessonly, Absorb, etc.), showing excellent written communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge about different learning methodologies and ability to identify, plan for, and apply various strategies and techniques to achieve learning objectives, keeping the training inclusive, and considering the audience, topic, and circumstances.
• Ability to apply different facilitation skills according to the audience and how things evolve during the training session.
• Formal training experience.
